Disable caching of network shared files

Under Win2K I have shared a big file using windows file sharing. I have noticed that if I use my other computer to copy the file, the computer sharing it will try to cache the entire file in memory while copying. The result is that all available physical memory quickly drops to near zero. Other programs in memory are paged out as the available memory reaches a few megabytes. That makes the computer EXTREEMLY slow.

All memory used for the cache is released as soon as the file has finished copying, but during the copying the machine is barely useable. Is it possible to disable this caching of the file?

I have 512 MB of memory. It is kind of pointless to cache 300 MB of a file that is only read once now and then.
