First of all, I apologise for the cliched title - it just had to be done
Anyway, welcome to Round XIII of PA, and welcome to Round 10 of ROCK's history. For an allliance, it's a long history, and a brief account of our epic adventure through PA's history begins in round 2 as a small but dedicated attack group called Stryke. In round 4, the leader of that group, TGO, created the p19 alliance for the 19th parallel, one of the most cutthroat parallels of the round. Then, finally, ROCK was created at the end of round 4 from p19 and has existed from that day onwards.
Some of our members have been with us since those early days, and can be found sitting (or possibly by now, rusting, or muttering oddities to themselves in a corner) in #rock on NG for all to see, enjoying a small beer.
In fact, the secret stash of huge, great, cool kegs of beer - which is kept in the hc chan for, ahem, safety, is something that we've debated giving to the masses as a prize on our Tuesday evening quiz night.
...We quickly decided that it wouldn't stand a chance of getting out of the HC office.
Instead we just decided to run a quiz night, open to everyone and anyone; every week , for the fun of it, maybe giving out (non-beer-like) prizes, like we did this week just gone.
Anyway, back to recruitment. Beer might be a nice distraction, but it is a distraction nonetheless (*hic*) We have always had an open recruitment policy. All are welcome. We take foxes, strange creatures called hydraxs, illegal exceptions, oh, and humans too - including women!
Women of PA, unite!
At the moment, I think we have five female members, four of whom have been around for yonks, and three of whom are now part of the furniture (you're being talked at by one of 'em). No offence guys, but you women out there - do you ever feel that men are quite literally taking over the universe? Come to #rock on NG and talk to an op or voiced person with the [M] tag, and change that!
Or, are you sitting there thinking "HELP I'm surrounded by teenagers and/or young people with nothing better to do than stare at a screen and gloat over the latest roid count - wait, what's a roid count?"
As the most useful book in the universe suggests, DON'T PANIC. ROCK might have some of those young people (alright, most of us would probably be deemed 'young') running around and causing havoc with roid counts and whatnot, but we've got some mature players as well, and the chronologically mature have always gravitated towards us, as have the teenagers and also slightly mad (if you're not mad before ROCK, it will instill a certain rocky madness in you).
So, does any of that sound like you? Good. Come to #rock on NG.
It doesn't sound like you? Come to #rock on NG anyway. We're always up for a laugh and a bit of fun - that's one of the main aims of ROCK, to enjoy the game of Planetarion.
All we ask at the start is that you're not in another alliance. If you're completely new to the game, that's fine. We'll interview you, and if that goes okay then you'll be introduced into our Magma wing, on our brand shiny new private server, where we'll teach you how to attack, defend, and build your planet up, and you'll interact with attacks and defence with other members. We apologise in advance if our rather strange discussions (last notable one the other day was about sticking m&ms, wine gums and smarties to mp3 players) terrify you, but you'll get used to them.
We also accept unpaid accounts into our Magma wing; therefore, players with free accounts are welcome to come and see an op/voiced tagged [M] in #rock too.
Experienced players get into the main ROCK alliance, as do magmas once they are active and experienced enough. These are the main criteria for the main ROCK wing;
1) 3 hours of IRC activity
minimum daily (acceptances made for RL issues etc)
2) Gain 35 defence points a week minimal (5 def points for daytime def, 10 def points for night def )
3) Ability to launch on night attacks (pre-launch will not always be accepted)
4) Attack 3 times a week minimal
5) Possess a paid account
6) When on IRC be in our private channel at all times
7) Check our forums and website regularly to keep up to date with news and the community
8) Adhere to the Official Planetarion rules
As you might notice from the above list, we allow you to have a real life - in fact, we recognise that this strange idyll known as real life is more important than this quasi-surreal game world that we know here (oh, it's more important than PA too
). However, this doesn't mean we won't notice if you're never around
And, be fair, wouldn't you really rather be plotting with the other members to commandeer the kegs of beer from the HC office?
So, whoever you may be, provided you're alliance-less, you're most welcome to join ROCK. Just come along to #rock and pm an op (@) or voiced (+v) with the [M] tag, and we'll go places from there. The pub sounds like a good place to start.
