Calling Zen Xtra 30gig Users
I believe at least 2-3 others on here have/use the Creative Zen Xtra 30gig model. Anyhow, does the installation CD that you need to install software on each computer you plan to link up with the mp3 player contain a specific .exe file which installs the software etc? As I literally broke my installation disc in half and therefore can't install the software on other comps I regularly use to transport files regularly. If so, can you(owner of said mp3 player with said installation cd) send me the file at ryzekiel at gmail dot com as it seems Creative do nothing to help me with my problem. If not, any ideas on how to solve this situation ?

Re: Calling Zen Xtra 30gig Users
Quick googling has found http://home.wanadoo.nl/berryvdheuvel/downloads.html
its in dutch though, so the driver on that webby may also be :S
Still googling about to see if i can see anything else - you'd have thought creative would put something like that on their webby
Edit: rest of results on google look like garbage, so if above doesnt work, i cant help im afraid
The installer looks like its in english though but i cant test if it -works- since i dont own one

The downloads dont seem to help, i tried that previously and it didnt help. You must need a specific EXE from the CD.

Re: Calling Zen Xtra 30gig Users
I have the 60Gb version - and i grabbed all the drivers and the latest firmware from creative's website. I never need to use the CD at all. you should just need to download the driver and nomad explorer - creative media source is a waste of space.

Yeah I know. I tried a few of the downloads already, they didn't seem to help. I'll try a few others in school on monday to see if they can substitute for the cd.

Install the drivers, but use notmad explorer for managing the jolly. Creative's software blows.

Re: Calling Zen Xtra 30gig Users
Why can't these people just make it so that their device is detected/treated as a normal USB mass storage device? I had to install a driver for my new camera too after which it can be used as an external storage device.
There's still a long way to go till we reach true userfriendlyness of computers.

Re: Calling Zen Xtra 30gig Users
depends on the OS i suppose.
For instance, windows 98 doesnt support normal mass storage usb devices without a driver.
Windows xp has a generic one which works 'out of the box'
Ie. my camera, and a usb pen drive i have both come with driver disks for win98 - to make them appear as a mass storage device for it.
Havent tested my camera under linux but as my usb pen drive works in it, i suspect it will too.
