I know some people don't like bbc-links, but I just had to post this and ask: WTF???
Surely if you hate your job or your realtionship so much that you want to beat up people you would be much better off changing your job or ending your realtionship, wouldn't you?

I was watching Judge Judy the other day and the man was being sued. He had been given some lawers old phone number and after eight months of 5-10 people phoning up EVERY DAY for this lawyer he changed his answer machine message to say that the lawyer had died in a horrible accident.

He put up with it for eight months instead of changing the number. People put up with enormous levels of frustration rather than making a few adjustments and leading a happier life. the question is, why?

Some people have families to support which might make either choice difficult to make. Also, the type of work out there (especially somewhere like China where it must be insanely pressured at the moment) isn't that varied. I could quit my job right now for instance, but I'd probably end up doing something broadly similar if I wanted to maintain a broadly similar standard of living (given my skillset, etc).
