I marked this thread [approved] as i don't see how anyone could disagree.

Instead of the research #, hows about tech scans change to some actual data (making it easier on everyone, and helping newbies considerably). These are copied stright out of the manual's tech-tree.

Technology Analysis on 1:1:1 in Tick 1337

Travel Technology: Hypergate (-4 ETA)
Infrastructure upgrades: Advanced Infrastructure (150)
Ship Research: Siege Weapons (CR/BS)
Wave Scans Research: Warp Particle Detection (F)
Core Mining: Magma Extraction
Agent Training: Structural Integrity
Heavy Cargo Transfers: XIII 4500 Asteroids

etc. On a side, but related note, I'd like to point out that the naming system on the tech-tree is oftentimes incongruent than the common player slang ("fleet analysis scans" is't called "warp particle detection") and mabye this should be changed to help newbies and promote easier understanding/grasping of the game.

This, on the other hand, I don't agree with.

We don't run around saying 'I watched the game on my cathode ray tube yesterday' or 'the optical laser reading device transfered the data to the decoder which in turn played the music quite beautifully'.

Warp particle detection actually makes sense as the technology that enables 'fleet analysis scans'. It confers a shred of hard sci-fi credibility to the game, which, seeing as it's a sci-fi game, is pretty healthy. It says right underneath on the research page what the research enables anyway, doesn't it?
