Just one of those questions where you sit at work and think "i wonder why that is?"

Anyway this game and our community seems to atract players from particular countries. I have come across players in numbers,predominantley from :

Great Britain
Ireland
Norway
America
Canada
Australia
New Zealand
Finland
Germany
Holland
Denmark

Met a few from Portugal,Brazil, Malyasia,lithuania

But where are the masses of players from Countries like France,Spain,Italy, Japan.........too many other largely populated countries to mention. Is it because the language of the game is all in English ? Or perhaps people like the french just dont want to mix with people who speak english ?

Im not looking for a list of people from countries that do play, just curious why there is no mass of players from some other countries.

Most french people know only one english word (that being: french? (with the question mark)), so I guess they just don't play an english based game.

Thats just as well however, for in most strategy oriented mpg's, french players confers a permanent aura of lower intelligence to the team/galaxy whatever.

Gawd I hate french WC3 players.

The guy who introduced me to PA in round 2 was attempting to chat up a '15 year old girl from Hong Kong' who was in his gal at the time - dunno what happened to her but he's in Jail - something to do with 'Operatation Nonce-gone' or something.

I had a girl from Thailand (iirc) in my gal in round 2. She was TE and played pretty seriously. Although she was studying in Nottingham University, so I don't know if that counts.

Normally my gc in rd9 would have been an guy from LIBANON.
But the goverment charged the internet there or summing like that he wasnt able 2 play anymore.
IN rd5 I knew a guy from Hongkong, I know a Russian guys idles in #knightvision.

I know a dude from Croatia, and quite a few from the Iberian Peninsula.

When i first started to play planetarion, I ended up in a galaxy with three chinese players.. Wich had signed up about the same time, and knew eachother well.. Some of them finished off good in round four..

Any how, I also had a mate in some galaxys below.. Also a mate of these guys.. They whent to school together.. But one day Malbroman (wich where his name) just disapered.. Not like from irc, but in reality.. That wasn't good..

Thats about those i had contact with from asia, during the rounds.. Well, and lets not forgett my galaxy mate this round..

I knew a couple of people who played from South Africa (I am related to them though) if that counts, and one of my gal mates was Spanish.

But I'm sure if you look at most of the people they join, they generally join in groups and then (to an extent) hang around in communities. Aside from the language barrier (afaik, all the countries who do have reps are all pretty English-speaking friendly) perhaps those countries simply haven't had the critical mass of players to sustain a community.

That might as well be a good reason for why people native to the english language dont play, unless the amount of players are at a responsible level.. And when you mention such people, i came to remember some brazilian guy in my pararelle rund four.. Declan or some.. (-: He sure were one three three seven..

rd 4 we had 10 guys from malaysia in my gal but it turned out it wass just the 1 guy multying turns out he ran a net-cafe and had about 30 differant planets

we have some fun when we found out and roided his ass down from 25 million score and 900 roids to 400k score and 30 roids in 24hr period then went and killed all his other planets
oh the memorys

That guy was in my gal in r3 way up in c217 where my carreer began, one of the first peeps i ever had proper conversations with in my gal

(pa-mail r00lz ofc) dunno if that was just one of his accounts or his first and real. I remember when he was in Virus in r4 with me..he asked me once or twice if i could help watch out for his gal during his strange sleep-hours

in my gal rd 4 he was hessler of hessler
but all his multi planets had something to do with liverpool fc , he was a big fan

thats what made it so easy to find his other planets they were all like that

think this is prity simple immo
countrys playing PA stems to there countrys conectivty and cost of internet reginal to pay you usaly get the "better off countrys" playing PA as we have become americanised and become rather fat and lazy and the Internet has biult in to our culture more countrys like Spain its not so mutch biult in to there culture of life its Internet is like the spread of TV you can look at the ammount of TV sets per house as a good indicator towards the americanisation of a nation state same goes with Internet

but then you have the excption of south east asia who alltho haveing a grate internet base they allways created its own irc comunity and south east asisans alltho beeing very internet based the Internet is very divided on culture China Korea vietnam Japan usaly have there own IRC comunitys who keep away from Westernised IRC servers because of the lack of surport of there laungidges on western irc sure and you allways have the laungide barrier as of they dont share the relitivly the same alfabet as us and find it hard to use our irc comunity the same as theres with PA beeing very comunity based it becomes hard for them to participate

but sometimes you get aceptions etc

meeting different nationalities is one of the most positive things about PA...in r4 my gal had at least 4 Brits, 2 Americans, 1 Aussie, 1 Sth African, 1 Dutchty, a Belgian and an Argentinian...among others who I forget now sadly...we all knew eachother as we had come to play PA from a different on-line game...communication was always in english tho...I guess that is the deciding factor for most..

i've seen quite a lot spanish ppl playing PA already (thingol and friends)

but i've never ever seen an italian or japanese, and just once some1 from french

perhaps they just havent discovered cable yet
