And add a right-click menu to do scans straight from the JGP would be a big UI improvement.

[14:33] <@mz> I hate that universe news entries are not accessible if you're not logged in

[14:33] <@ekseru> i hate that it doesnt show values!
These two things shouldn't be too hard to fix?

In the battle report click on 'Link', then click on 'Fleet Details'.
It shows the XP Gained per fleet..

whats the point in the points on alliance rankings?
nothing in the manual... introduced r38

New Alliance Points System to show "Alliance XP" based on attack and defence. Added to alliance listing dump.

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
it was introduced as an alternate way to score alliances, but as it's too obscure how the score is acquired it never became a good way to rank alliances by.

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
One of the co-ord inserting pages (maybe ally scans searching?) when you tab to the next box on a phone, it moves the cursor to before the 0 instead of after. If it moved it to after wouldn't need to remove the 0.
Very tiny thing but has always frustrated me when trying to play on the phone

That seems like a browser issue though, I doubt PATeam can fix how those fields behave.

Not sure, literally every other co-ord entry works by bringing the cursor after the 0 except for that one.
Another example, looking at the scans page, every pre-filled number (to give my co-ords) when tabbing to the next box starts at the end except for the first number in dev scan.
Might be an issue with Safari but figured it was worth mentioning.
Edit: Just tried in chrome oh the phone and it always brings the cursor in after the existing number, so you may have called it anyway

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
Can you change the input type of all input fields that only accept numbers to <input type="number">?
That has allready been done for the login question but lots of other fields ingame could benefit from it aswel on mobile (coords, production, population, ...)

Could we get a total count of attacking, defending and returning fleets (and shipcounts) to the alliance fleets page? Much like in alliance defense page.

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
Was wondering, on fleet page - If you expand to put the calc in, you have a note section that's viewable by everyone.
Any chance you could add a HC + BC/DC note section? Makes it easier to leave a note for the person checking later on.

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
Self-exile now takes 1-4 ticks to complete. That's annoying, but what's worse is that the exile code runs after the dump code, so you show up under your new coords a tick later than necessary. Swap please!
Edit by Appoco: This has been fixed

Remove "Planetarion Universal Information Service" from the game forum section, as it shows nothing.
Edit from Appoco: done
Show the alliance forum on the galaxy forum by default and rename it Forum.

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
redesign these pages using the data in tables.
Constructions - http://danielmarkavis.co.uk/pa/cons.html
1) Description is always there anyway why not show it.
2) Split resources up into seperate columns.
3) Single line Build and Queue at the top so you start/know what your building with no scrolling.
Population - http://danielmarkavis.co.uk/pa/population.html
1) Formatted the government into a table, easier to read.
2) Show the government info all the time, or how else would you know which government to switch to?
3) Moved the "changes" part into the sliders table so you can see easier what is changing.
Production - http://danielmarkavis.co.uk/pa/prod.html
1) Split resources up into seperate columns.
Research - http://danielmarkavis.co.uk/pa/research.html
1) Split resources up into seperate columns.
2) Removed current level as its not needed.
3) added column to show what a research will unlock.

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
Give us back the buttons for
Self Hostiles/Allies - its nice to see if you are getting attacked and defence
Galaxy Hostiles - only need to know about hostiles
Alliance Hostiles - same as above.

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
1) Add a header title to the "Open Market Trade" tab.
2) If any resources are set to "not wanted" disable them from the galaxy trade function.
3) Add a blank column at the beginning of each news item, specifying the type "cons, res, hostile, allies etc", so we can use pictures to denote the news item, like the old days.

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
On the upgrade bonus page, make it clear that the bonus grows as the round goes on. This is obvious to people who've played this game for ages, but not for new players, and not for players returning after 30+ rounds.

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
Single Resource:
Perhaps now we can move to a single resource type "credits"? I know this isnt really a small issue.
Resources have moved away from the early days where most ships needed lots of metal & crystal, basically when we started with the 4 races. Other wise you would end up with planet with too many of one resource they didn't need.
This will help newer players get into the game, with out the forced resource swapping.
Single Asteroid, multiple outputs:
Or perhaps a way for a planet to specify the percentages they mine.

Remove Quests from the overview and place into the menu, will help people with slow connections, or over mobile.

Make a thread? Post it in here? Both are - unfortunately - useless...
No one is reading it and if it get ever read and trimmed down (i.e. the first version) then it gets completely ignored.

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
Actually, many of the nags in the first thread have been resolved. Have a little faith.
The reason I want people who want large issues resolved to make their own thread is to ensure that this one stays as a thread that Cin/Appoco can look at when they're bored, want to code something, but only have an hour of free time.

Please revise your definition of many.
It's not really accurate.
Just count how many items from the 'To Fix' and 'May Fix' are actually fixed.. You would be surprised

The uppercase/lowercase status of cursewords is not kept when they're replaced with 'smurf'. "ENABLE YOUR smurfING TAXES" looks dumb.

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
In the top 100, if you're napped to an alliance, that alliance's planets are highlighted in green. However, the internal borders of the highlighted rows are still black. It'd look better if they faded into the background.
Also, it'd make sense if napped/allied alliances were similarly highlighted on the alliance rankings.

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
When you tick the ''Production Value" checkbox, the production page no longer fits in the PA interface without wrapping the cost column.
[edit] Can you tell I'm playing?

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
The bcalc comment field is far too restrictive as to what characters it allows. For example, neither . nor : are allowed, which makes it unnecessarily hard to enter coords.

Made a planet a day or 2 ago and it was possible for me to see the Incoming Changes Log of the galaxy (including calcs) while not being set as trusted. Is this supposed to happen or is the way it is supposed to work?

Haven't played in about 5 or 6 years, but here we go:
- having various "confirm" checkboxes is super annoying from a user experience point of view
- so many inconsistences with where to find stuff! Alliance specific settings are somewhere under "preferences" instead of under 'alliance", alliance scan requests are on "waves" but the alliance scan archive under "alliance"

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
The body of ingame mails cannot be empty. There's no reason for this.

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
Why would anyone send an ingame mail with no message?

Fixed for next round. will try and include it in this round too.

Currently yes, but feedback given has suggested this is not a great way of doing it, so Cin will be changing this (at the weekend or something) to step up what you see with unwanted / wanted / trusted

One-word mails like 'land' or 'recall' do not require a body, just a subject.
By the way, Apocco, a better way of keeping track of which nags have been fixed and which haven't might be to put a marker in the original post, rather than a reply anywhere from 1 to 100 posts later. That would make unresolved nags much easier to find.

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
Any where there are coords, make them links to the location. Galaxy status, and alliance defence page are two needed the most.

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
Scans:
When set on 'advanced' you can scan multiple co-ords/types at same time (which is great).
But when requesting scans, it is still the old way of one scan/type per page.
Can we make requesting scans same as own scans on advanced setting

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
A bunch of interface issues:
Input fields for coords should have the type 'number', not 'text'. This is especially useful on mobile. That's HTML5-only, but it's about time for that, anyway.
Don't pre-enter defaults into most coord input fields, and definitely not zeroes. These have to be removed manually on many mobile devices. Just leave them empty, or use the placeholder attribute.
After you submit a request on the scan request page, a full reload is performed. This forces users to re-enter the full set of coords if they want another scan on the same coords, or even a different scan on similar coords, both of which are common in galraids. Instead, the page should just AJAX the data to the server, without a full page reload. Easier option: keep the full page reload, but preserve the entered coords.
The links of the page menu on the left are impossible to click reliably on mobile. Too small. Relatedly, there are probably too many of them too. Possible merge candidates: History/Journal, Stats/Manual, Waves/Covert Ops (Espionage?), Research/Construction (Development?), Politics/Galaxy/Galaxy Forum.
The page menu on the left does not scroll if it doesn't fit on the page.

Re: Nagging over tiny things thread #2
They need a dedicated responsive mobile css files.
http://danielmarkavis.co.uk/pa/overview2.html
Obviously you need to create the files for larger screens.
The above was designed for tablets mostly, but the menu is too large and does need shrinking/merging.
