Im tempted to fly with them this summer, from Oslo to Cologne/Bonn.

Anyone have experiences with em?

No, really. the only things I associate with the phrase 'German wings' is von Richtofen, Graf von Zepplin, Hermann Göring, and the Luftwaffe. And I'm sure you're aware of the fate of those unfortunate entities.

The BF109 was shit though, one of the few aircraft the Germans had en masse in WWII. The weak landing gear caused many accidents and its lack of armor made it even vulnerable to the weak .303 guns of the early British fighters.

I had a good experience with them, although if you can go with Lufthansa imo a superior airline, I remember flying from Munich to Madrid with them I got drunk on there free drinks trolley, then did this again on the way back

I both tried Ryanair and Germanwings (to London I think).
I can recommend them, nothing dangerous or weird about those two airlines.

Oh, btw, Germanwings does NOT ring a bell with ANY worldwar in ANY german head whatsoever. People know it as the name of an airline, or they don't at all.


They're these really cheap rubbish airlines, so be prepared:
- No lunch during flight obviously
- Not that much luggage, I think about 20kg + about 8kg for your hand-luggage...
- Unpleasant flight times: Leaves wery early in the morning or late in the evening
- The airports are usually NOT central. Just like London Stansted. Even if the airport is called "Düsseldorf" or Cologne / Bonn, it doesn't necessarily mean it's close to the city. You might as well need to travel 1 more hour to get there...

Oh, and of COURSE Lufthansa is way better, but thats a "professional airline", as opposed to the other "cheap airlines".
It'll cost about 2 or even 5 times more.
