An ASP Query

Its probably a very simple answer but im unsure as to whether such 'basic' advice is on the net...


so ill ask here


If opt = "1" then
a1 = a1 + 10
a2 = a2 + 10
a3 = a3 + 20
a4 = a4 + 30
end if


do i need the a1 = bit?

could it just be

if opt = "1" then
a1 + 10
a2 + 10
a3 + 20
a4 + 30
end if


???

i have no idea about asp, but in some laguages you could do 'a1+=10'

VB6 doesn't have an increment operator but VB.NET does. Just "a1 + 10" will either give an error or not do anything, try it.

i did a few tests
only way i can get it to work is

a = a + 1

nm its all done now. just took alot longer ....

What about:

If opt = "1" Then
    a(1) = a(1) + 10
    For i  = 2 To 4
        a(i) = a(i) + (i - 1) * 10
    Next i
End If
