"Ripping" MP3s
Since I have an iriver on the way I fancy ripping my CDs to MP3 format but I dont know what program to use. What do you reccommend?
And please dont suggest WMP as this doesnt work on my computer after I installed JJ's program to make it look like a mac
Thanks.

Re: "Ripping" MP3s
I made a thread like this a few months ago. Most people recommended CDex and it has worked perfectly for me.

Exact Audio Copy - does the job in a simple way (starbucks recommended me to it long, long ago) - select tracks, Convert --> Compressed voiala

Re: "Ripping" MP3s
EAC would be my reccomendation if you want something just for the purpose of ripping, but I would point you in the direction of MediaMonkey for a nifty little program that as well as being able to rip CDs, also does a good job of cataloguing and playing them.

EAC using the hacked Fraunhoffer Pro that seems ubiquitous.
Not that I'm condoning that sort of illegality.

Re: "Ripping" MP3s
I used Windows Media Player
The quality of the CD (which, incidentally, was in a format that Winamp couldnt read ... WTF?) was less than brilliant. I get the feeling that its somehow distorted because i took the individual files and converted them to WMA rather than straight to MP3.
Thoughts?

EAC + LAME is the best way to do it, some elitist music forum says so!
