Numbers in terms of relativity. 20,000 copies may not sound much, but if it sold more than the others then surely that makes it the "most popular"?

I could sell 1,000,000 copies of a song. If the norm to get to number one is 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 though, then I'm pretty unpopular in the relative sense of the word, surely?

The Killers are not awful because they are popular, that is silly.

I think it is probably safer to say that their music is not to my liking. It used to be, but tastes change, and after hearing it a thousand times on the radio it has become like white noise to me.

Which is unfortunate, as I like most music, and I dont begrudge music simply because millions of other people think it is good.

I could partly agree with that but not a lot of the rock/alternative stuff that came out was actually be worth listening to some 20 odd years later. I had a quick look through my playlist and there are only 7-8 albums from the 80s' I have listen to more than once. The rest are from the 70s' or more recently.

I don't know if it's because I am just a little ashamed about doing stuff like jumping about like an arsehole to Iron Maiden at Whitley Bay in 1987 or Sabbath in 1985 or whatever I was up to and don't want to be reminded of it (I did enjoy the Sugarcubes though but as it was an indie concert I could just drink my pint and be morose).

Nowadays I am far too sensible (boring) to do such things so I don't need to be ashamed.

Plus I got all my hair cut off so I can't even pretend to be that bloke that was in that band.........
