Competition: REAL prize to the winner
Free R9 account activation to the person who comes up with the answer to this question. The question is for a rollover jackpot in a pub quiz, and so I can't say who wins immeadiately, but I'll get back sometime. The Question is as follows...
A man is 48 years old on his first birthday. When and Where was he born? He is on planet Earth somewhere.
Like I say, free R9 account to the first person to give the right answer, whether I win the quiz or not.

I didn't think such a planet existed

There's no such planet in our solar system :C
This is rather tricky for a pub quiz question :}

nod i agree with you but:
birthday is an anniversary of birth, yeah?
this in in years
you can't just have his 'birthday' in earth years and his age in martian (or whatever) years, that makes no sense
if that's it, it's a stupid question :/

another equally **** answer would be:
he was lost from birth in the jungles of africa when his parents plane crashed, he was raised by apes who had no concept of birthdays and when eventually returning to civilisation to be reunited with his family he experienced his first birthday, 48 years after being born.
:)

There are more than one types of calender's being used.
The clue in the quetion (imo) is where and when.

but then he wouldn't be 48 years old, he'd be 1
same as using martian calendar or whatever

you sure it wasn't 84 years as opposed 48 cause then the answer might be Uranus.

maybe a country changed calander for a period of 48 years. So that he wouldn't have a birthday for 48 years.
Maybe back in the days of the roman empire?

20. A man was nearly 48 years old on celebrating his first birthday. Where, when, and what day of the week was it?

I think I've got it.
From that site ( this one ). About a 3rd of the way down, under "Other A.D. Dates".
All you need to know is this...
1) In 1582 some countries switched from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar.
2) The Gregorian reform was adopted by omitting the dates October 5-14, 1582.
3) Sweden made the switch by omitting leap days in the years 1700-1740 instead of ommiting the chunk of dates above.
(All taken from that site)
So if a man was born in Sweden on the 29th February 1696, his first birthday would be in the year 1744, 48 years later

If you take into account human cloning he could be a clone of a 37 years old man, born just about anywhere where cloning could be made.

Okay, next Tuesday I will try this, and if it is right, you win the account.
And Gezza also kind of hinted at it, so if it's right he also gets a free account.

I would love a free account as I do intend on playing.....however to be honest, if you read again - I was just pointing out that it's nothing to do with the whole 'planets' thing and that ÐiSCoRPoRaTioN had already provided a link that helped with the answer.
Im just too honest for my own good Discorp would deserve the prize.
