Castlevania 2, Simons quest - in town during day music
Zelda, nes - I need not say any more
Castlevania 64 - ace
* Forsaken (64) - The one with the smooth base line, I LOVE IT!
I could go on and on, but Forsaken is clearly the win.

Sorry.
I take my votes back, and cast in this; (Which btw, I figured this would be "Best in-game music besides (this)"
Toejam and Earl
Nothing compares.
This means original, Sega Genesis. (Even though it is quite good on Xbox)

mmmm Im gonna have to go with things not mentioned yet - but clearly the best (and yes better than TA which was pretty good)
In chronological order
Q2 (one of the first games i bought - playing through this with that music rocking in the background was amazing)
Icewind Dale (some of the most eerily beautiful music i've heard in a game, I just bought the sequel and am hoping for more of the same)
IGN Review
"Even though the sound effects are pretty good, nothing can prepare you for the music in this game. In my opinion, Icewind Dale contains some of the best music to ever grace a computer RPG, and without a doubt it is the best music ever put into an AD&D title on any platform. The soundtrack is less like a game score, but more like an epic Hollywood film score"
GameRankings.com
"The music is simply some of the best I've ever heard in any computer game I've played. "

Settlers is a yes and a no for me. That damn midi poo that was constantly playing (if im remembering correctly) was extremely annoying, However in one of the settlers series you selected the option to listen to the cd music, and a few of those tracks were excellent
(my settlers knowledg is vague, I haven't played it in years and didn't play it much then so excuse innacuracies)
Mostly when i played settlers i listened to 'breakfast at tiffany's' but then i am kinda sad.
