Re: Quick ram question
9500's are better than 9600's, but the 9600's a decent card.
You're not going to find anything under 2700 retail. It might be easier to change the mobo (you can get good ones for about £40 nowadays)

Yeah, but you're not going to be much better off. He has 2100 if memory serves.

well difference between PC2100 and PC2700 is only a few quid at best, if he already has a stick of PC2100, then it would be best to match it, but its not necessary.
For that few extra quid, PC2700 is more futureproof.

Just to be pedantic:
http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=21569
Ohhhh, SDR.
Retro...
Also, if by "good ones" you mean motherboards with loads of features for £40 then buyer beware. PC-Chips are one of the many culprits in that area, they make some shockingly unreliable equipment.
Spend another £20 on a similar spec one from Asus, Abit or Gigabyte.

Re: Quick ram question
www.crucial.com/uk - put in the motherboard details and see if they are cheaper. Generally they are.

Re: Quick ram question
I was meant to be goin to that match, then things went pear shaped and when they went normal shaped it was too late - all tickets sold out
We still gotta play Bradford and Wimbledon so I'm still half confident we'll survive.
If we go down I can always go watch them in Hillsborough!!

Re: Quick ram question
so many forest fans wanted tickets - they were queueing outside the ticket office from 5am! all the tickets for the 'beam-back' to the city ground are sold out too (IE big TV screens)
If only it was at the city ground instead of (gay) pride park then the atmosphere would be amazing

Re: Quick ram question
I checked last night just for fun, and there is little difference even between PC2100 and PC3200 512MB sticks Dane Elec memory.
So, if you can spare the few extra quid, and you think you might get a faster Mobo in the future, buy the PC3200 memory.
Oh, and for a video card... I spotted an ATi Radeon 9600 XT 128MB for 150 euro's, which is I think around 100 quid. Whatever you do, don't get a Radeon SE card as they are generally worse for the price you pay for them. Or a Geforce card for that matter as I'm anti-NVidia.
