Re: Galaxy Fund Suggestion
They removed it, didn't they? A late joiner for an undersized BP is fine with me.

Ye, Im happy to see that they addressed the biggest part of the issue! Now lets see what the "private galaxies" come up with as a way around it.

I'll tell you, as I already know.
They will have 6-7 ppl that exile around pt 25 and on, instead of 3-4.

Re: Galaxy Fund Suggestion
He is talking about the late sign up change (the other gripe in this thread)
Now no latestarters if you have a BP of 5 and 1 latestarter if you have a BP of 4.

Re: Galaxy Fund Suggestion
At this point, I see no reason for them to happen at all. They were meant to wreck late starting. You can no longer late start in a full buddy pack. Problem solved.

Re: Galaxy Fund Suggestion
That doesnt solve the problem. It just means the problem is less likely to happen.

I suppose that it does go a long way towards removing it. Although I can still picture BPs of 4 spending the first few days exiling out randoms and replacing them with "lucky" self-exilers and then topping up with (just) one latestarter. I agree that this is still an improvement over the previous arrangement though.
But Nitros is right - there's nothing to stop these (fewer) late-starters continuing to hide value.

Re: Galaxy Fund Suggestion
No, there's not. But they'll do worse than normal 5-man BPs.

Re: Galaxy Fund Suggestion
Yes, probably so. I'm struggling to think of any valid reason why a BP should choose to weaken itself like this at the start of a round.

No they won't.
suffice to say, last round winning gal started with 4 and went 2+ late starts
so per your definition they would be worse off than those going 5+1. Actually thats far from the truth, it is by far the best option.
Any BP with hopes for winning gal nxt round should go 4+1, or even 3+2 if that is still possible.

Re: Galaxy Fund Suggestion
Well really your not weakening yourself because the self exile system is open to abuse. Rather than being used to move from a dead galaxy to another random one people now use it to get good odds on landing in a galaxy they want to.
From what i remember the galaxy that has won for the last 3 rounds has been absolutely nowhere in the rankings until tick 500, when everyone they have wanted has exiled in and their latestarters have started accruing fund in the galaxy fund.
So you make them need 1 more person to self exile than they already did and you make them have 1 less person latestarting who was too lazy to get their exiles right in the first place.
Really nothing major has changed, people will still get into the galaxy they want to by abusing the self exiles, people will still hide funds in the galaxy fund and roid n00bs, you have just made it slightly more time consuming to achieve thats all.

Re: Galaxy Fund Suggestion
So I had someone explain it to me, and it makes some sense. Here's how it works:
If you start with 4, you can exile 3 or 4 people because they're shit, and since you've got like 5 people trying to get in, you'll probably get 2 or 3. Then, since you started with 4, you get 2 late signers, giving you a 'BP' of 8-9.
If you start with 5, you can exile 2 or 3 people because they're shit. Because you have fewer spots, only 1 or 2 people can exile in. Additionally, you only get 1 late signer, giving you a BP of 7-8.
You give up 300 ticks of a slightly smaller BP for 850 ticks of a slightly larger BP. The early round doesn't matter for shit anyway, so it works out.
So it appears I was wrong. We do still need the fund suggestion implemented.

Re: Galaxy Fund Suggestion
They wont make 2 MAJOR change sin a round. They will stick with this BP alteration then be berated about tick 800 when everyone realises it actually had no effect at all.
Then we will all whinge again and come up a new sensible idea that will be railroaded into some other gripe and another pointless measure will be taken that actually doesnt solve the problem...

Re: Galaxy Fund Suggestion
I can only assume you use 'major' ironically. Because otherwise, I might die of laughter right here on the spot.

Re: Galaxy Fund Suggestion
Yes it was irony. People think of changes like this as major when infact they are so easy to do and insignificant on the round as a whole that its laughable anyway

the last huge change was back in the days when they introduced the e-mail login over periods of rounds.. look how awesome it has been in terms of improving the game!
