So, advice then.
Basically, I applied for a job within the company I currently work for. Similar role to what I do now, just one step up the ladder.
This would have been in a new store, smaller, not as high profile as where I am at now, but it would have been progression.
I spoke to my manager, he spoke to the regional manager, told him he thought I would be ideal for it. And I sent off the application.
Turns out today they opened the shop, with a complete ****ING IDIOT in charge. I didnt even get an interview, despite my sales performance, and management experience being about 3x greater than his.
I'm going to raise hell about this on tuesday. However, for the time being, I'm looking for another career. Now, I've been on all these jobsearch etc sites, and they're all pretty shit.
What is the best way to go about registering with an agency to actually have them look for work for me? Obviously these internet sites are ****ing awful for it. YOu do a search for Sales and you get 39494595 vacancies, all telesales, or SALES EXECUTIVE 60K OTE + COMPANY CAR!!!!!!.

Re: So, advice then.
Yeah vf is very bad at ever giving any feedback
The easiest thing to do is to register with agencies that specialise in your field of work. Dont even bother with things or places like Monster or fish4.
The online agencies you do register with do not keep looking at their stockpile of registered CV's in my experience, so you need to check them about once a week and then apply for anything that takes your fancy. Aghain in my experience, agencies dont look for work for the candidates. They just have vacancies they need to fill so work for the company with the vacancy not the candidate. Im affraid your going to have to do the chasing.
Good luck in your search.

Re: So, advice then.
Well there's not a lot to advice about is there? It isn't very likely they will suddenly change mind about it but I would certainly demand an explaination about it. Considering your productivity you should have a card there isn't it, maybe you can get something arranged financially wise by pressuring them with the idea that you could go look somewhere else.
edit:
Didn't read your post to carefully it seems, it's busy here at the office :|

Burn the place to the ground and as they hawl you away scream that the internet told you to do it.
Or, as Madi said, ask why you weren't shortlisted.

Re: So, advice then.
Having worked for a recruitment firm i can tell you you really need to pester them (ring them and make sure tehy remember you), you may get called all the names under the sun each time you get off the phone but they will remember you. Be nice to the person you talk too (i know this sounds obvious but lots of ppl dont) CV's belonging to ppl who are not nice have a habit of disapering.
Just make sure they remember you for being annoyingly persistant but nice, they will try to find you a job just to get rid of you.

This isnt throwing a tantrum at all. I'm continually overlooked for secondments and oppurtunitys, and I dont know why. I was awarded 'Retail Advisor Of The Year' last year, its a bullshit title, but it gives you an idea of my profile within the company.
I do a good job, everybody knows it. I'm in one of the Top 10 stores in the country for both numbers, and profile. I am always way above target, each month. I do reports for the whole region weekly.
It doesnt make sense to me, really.

Maybe they like you so much in your current position that they don't want to promote you because then they'd have to find someone to fill your shoes.

Correct without doubt and if you ask them why you will be told a wee bit of bull shit to keep you in place.

This was irritating as there were 7 jobs going and from what i heard only 12 applications (all "in house").
However i decided to just take it as a "sign from God" that i was to carry on being a bum.
Just telling you that these things happen to other people too Rids :)

Why did I read an arrogant **** post the other week then about having not done more than 3 days in your work in your life then?
Contradiction, by 8pm, a new fragrance for fags.
