Incom Morgan: “This is Captain Incom Morgan of the Glory. We have unknown ships heading towards us. Judging from their speeds and vector’s, they are probably hostile, thus we must take measures to defend ourselves. Our ship has a Command Bridge designed to link together fleets of ships, I suggest we link up together. In addition, we should coordinate our opening salvo of weapons to take on as many of the craft as possible if they are hostile. Captain Darkling has already sent a signal assisting us, and we are sending a squadron of bombers and heavy fighters to cover him. Based on our weapons and suggestions from your respective tactical officers, I propose we take on the following targets based on the data I’m sending you via tight beam transmission.”

Hewitt: "This is Captain Hewitt of the Nemesis. Understood, I'll have the BA squad link up with our command bridge and then patch you through. Hewitt out."

*Captain Hewitt was in a bad mood and the crew knew it. If the recent family tragic wasn't enough of a stress getting bogged down with the larger engine array in the fleet had put Hewitt close to boiling point.*

I need a drink. Pronto.

*Slumping back into the comfy captain's chair Hewitt proceeds to remove a small flask of SR brand whisky from a secret compartment. Looking around to make sure no one was paying any particular attention he takes a good, long swig.*

Ahhhhh...

TO: Captain.

Hewitt: *Nearly chokes in the mad dash to hide his whisky, prompting a coughing fit.* Yes *cough!* TO, wh-*cough! cough!*-at is it? *ahem*

TO: I have the read outs for the plan the fleets other TO's and I worked out. With our impressive weapon readouts I managed to score us around a third of the enemy fleet and even snuck in a possible capture into the equation.

Hewitt: Let me see. *Grabs the datapad.* Hmm... good, good... make it so TO.

TO: Yes sir! *Salutes then wanders off to do his job.*

EO: Sir, the AD/C teams have almost finished recalibrating our main engines for this environment.

FO: Teams on our other ships report likewise sir.

Hewitt: Excellent, just in time too. I can't wait to kick some ass again.

No 1: (Note to LH - this is the EO whom escaped from Pandora) Sir, I hope I do not need to remind you of the dangers of rushing in headlong into the unknown. If we're lucky we won't need to fight at all.

Hewitt: *Goes silent.*

No 1: Forgive me sir. I keep forgeting the sensitivity of the subjec-

Hewitt: That's ok No 1. Your advice is always valuable... why don't you go and see if you can't help out in engineering?

No 1: Will do sir. *Walks off*

SO: Sir, it is my duty to inform you sir that Captain Incom's vessel is performing an active scan of the area. We should receive the information soon.

Hewitt: *Takes another swig of whisky, this time in full view of the crew.* SO, switch to active scans and focus your attention on the unknown vessels. I want to know everything there is to know about them - their shields, their weapons, their drives, everything down to what the captain likes to drink the most.

SO: very well sir. I'll see what I can dig up.

*Suddenly everything lurches backwards causing Hewitt to spill some of his drink. Cursing under his breath Hewitt does his best to brush off most of his firewater before it soaks into his nice clean shirt.*

EO: Sir our main engines are back online. I'm receiving full power across the board. And what power it is! And it's all at my fingertips!! MWAHAHAHAHA!!!

Hewitt: ...

EO: *Ahem* Sorry sir, got a little carried away there...

Hewitt: Just divert all our excess power into our shields and be quiet.

EO: Yes sir.

TO: Weapons online, bio-phasers charging. This is it sir...

*One by one each of the five cruisers in the reformed BA squadron come back to life as their engines are restarted. Once this is accomplished, all ships move into position to await the arrival of the unknown fleet.*

Battle Stat corrections/clarifications

- There are 18 Jupiter fighters in all making each group a total of 9, not 8.

- The weapons listed from the anti-fighter cover are from each of the three older ships respectively. Hence the repetiton.

- Battle Frigate #8: Nemesis is only going to launch 2 EMP missile groups, not 4.


Summary
- All ships use whatever means available to bring all main drives back online.

- All fighters and scout ships launched.

- Nemesis: AMD initiated

- Lion: Following weapons set to AFD mode - 4 Type G Phaser, 2 Type 4 Phaser, 12 Type X Phaser

- Unicorn: Following weapons set to AFD mode - 4 Type G Phaser, 2 Type 4 Phaser, 12 Type X Phaser

- DragonHeart: Following weapons set to AFD mode - 4 Type G Phaser, 1 Type 4 Phaser

- Weapons and shields online, all excess power to shields.

- Superweapons charging

- Weapons and fighters set according to fleet plan. Targets acquired and locked on.

- All ships linked to the Nemesis command bridge; Nemesis creates an open link with the Glory, joining the two command bridges together.

- SO performs a deep active scan of one of the enemy ships in order to gain intelligence on the unknown enemy technologies. Control is done through the Nemesis but all sensors in the battlegroup are used via the command link.

OOC- I tried looking for that post about the spy stuff and where it said that the enemy ships were 2 posts away (the one that also had the mission briefing), but I couldn't find it. I suspect it was post #708 which has been edited a week after it was written. I'm not sure if there was a reason for deleting that particular part or that you've decided not to use any spies (yet). Anyway, I've written my post assuming there's still a spy and assuming the ships had been 2 posts away (1 post after last DM, but that should give me enough opportunity to place the mines without being fired upon). -OOC

Comms: "Sir, The Dancing Starfish reports that the mines have been placed and that they are now activated."
Bogg: "Very well, we still have some time before those ships get close enough for us to fire on. Order The Dancing Starfish to expand the minefield with some more spacemines and let them use the cobalt mines too. When they have placed the last of the mines, they are to cloak and return here immediately."
Comms: "Aye capt'n."

Bogg: "Laura, did you find out anything about those ships yet?"
SO: "Negative captain. I can't give you much more than a rough analysis of the individual shipcomponents, most of the technology I've never seen before. However, scans show that they are using a heavy deuterium hull, so they're extremely vulnerable to missile weapons, but I'm not detecting any other weak points yet."
Bogg: "Right, our mines should be useful then. Continue your scans and find out as much as you can. Also, see if you can determine the lead ship in that petty strikeforce of them. When you do, let the targetting computer store it as a primary target and keep tracking it."
SO: "Yes Sir!"

Bogg: "Mister Leetdude, I want you to monitor shipwide communications; that means all of them and on all frequencies, understand? Terminate any unauthorised messages immediately."
Comms: "Yes, Capt'n!"

Bogg: "Sarah, what's our status?"
WO: "AMD and AFD have been activated. particle array has been set to AFD. All systems are at 100% and our PPP8's are still charging, captain."
Bogg: "Mister l'Oven; I thought I ordered you to use our slipstream drives to boost our weapons and shields? What's the delay?"
EO: "I'm sorry captain, but I can't seem to do it without disabling the slipstream drives' FTL ability."
Bogg: "We won't be needing that, turn it off and boost those systems right now!"
EO: "I'll take care of it right away, captain."
Bogg: "Good. I also want you to monitor all important systems such as shields, weapons, scanners, powerdistribution and lifesupport for unautorised access. Prevent whatever they're doing and report back to me immediately."
EO: "Aye Sir."

Bogg: "Sarah, I want you to lock on all enemy ships and continuously track them and do the same for all the mines that were deployed."
WO: "Sure thing, captain. Our upgraded targetting computer can do that easily. With some luck I might even be able to deduce their plan of attack."
Bogg: "Excellent! I also want you to post extra security guards at important sections in the ship that house crucial shipsystems such as the weapons, shields, engineering and also outside Alison's quarters. Anyone that behaves suspiciously is to be arrested immediately."
WO: "Consider it done, captain."

Bogg: "What about you Yvonne, have you come up with some dashing evasive moves yet?"
Helm: "I have programmed some standard evasive and offensive patterns. The enemy ships are still flying in formation, it's too early to come up with anything useful."
Bogg: "Oh. Bummer."

Bogg: "Comms, open a channel to commander Speckles. Make it a secure channel, I'll take it in my room."
Comms: "Link established, Sir."
* Bogg walks to his (nearby) room, taps some buttons next to a viewscreen and Alison's face appears on it.
Bogg: "I know you need your rest, but perhaps there's something you can do for me?"
No1: "Oh, not now Phinneas. You know these injuries have to heal first. Ask Sarah or Laura to do it for you if you're that desperate."
Bogg: "Actually, I wanted you to do something else."
No1: "Really? That's new to me."
Bogg: "Ahum, yes, well, I was thinking that since we might have a spy on board this ship and you're not doing anything important at the moment, I thought you could perhaps keep track of unusual activities onboard the ship?"
No1: "Well, that sounds boring!"
Bogg: "I'm sorry, you know I'd much rather have you on the bridge, but you have to heal first."
* No1 winks at Bogg: "I know where you like having me. "
Bogg: "I've already posted extra guards at important locations, including outside your quarters and I've asked l'Oven to keep an eye on systems and Leetdude to montitor communications, but I'd like to observe stuff on board the ship as well, just in case. You can do it from your bed. And even though there are guards outside your quarters, do take good care of yourself, Alison."
No1: "Alright, I'll see what I can do and don't worry about me. I have a phase-rifle within reach and a disruptor pistol under my pillow."

Actions:
- Escort carriers (Twinky and Dinky) remain cloaked and in position for the moment (not doing anything).
- The strike cruiser The Dancing Starfish is to deploy more space mines and also cobalt mines between approaching ships and the waiting fleet and then return to The Frivolous Rainbow under cloak (used 2x5 space mines and 2x5 cobalt mines).
- SO continues using the enhanced scanners to find out more about the approaching ships (attempt 2) and is also trying to detemine the enemy lead ship.
- Comms monitors shipwide communications on all frequencies and watches for any unauthorised transmissions, which he blocks immediately (anti-spy measure).
- Continue charging weapons: 2x PPP8; 2 posts left.
- Particle Array set to AFD mode.
- AFD(III) and AMD(III) have been activated.
- EO continues trying to boost shields and weapons directly from the Kylithium enhanced slipstream (FTL function taken offline this time) drives (and other engines).
- EO also monitors essential internal systems for unauthorised access (anti-spy measure).
- WO tracks (target lock) all enemy ships and all deployed mines using the upgraded tactical computer.
- WO orders Security Officer (I got the security stations upgrade) to post extra guards at important ship locations (including No1's quarters) to prevent tampering with systems (anti-spy measure).
- Helm is still studying approaching ships' flight patterns and programming some evasive and offensive manoeuvres.
- No1 is generally observing ship systems (anti-spy measure).

The Command bridge aboard the Pegasus was quite, as the huge carrier lazily drifted past the even larger World Ships. The bridge was dark. All unnecessary systems were taken offline, and the extra power was being pumped into the weapon systems. This meant that the main lighting systems were also taken offline, and the ‘emergency backup’ lights were online. A dull red light had filled the ship. The woman of the command crew of the Pegasus sat quietly at their posts, checking their consoles, making sure everything was running smoothly.

“Helm. Position us between the World Ships and the minefield being deployed by Commander Bogg.” Crazy’s voice was almost a whisper. The helmswoman complied silently, just tapping in the command on her console, adjusting the ships acceleration slightly on two of the engines, turning the ship and bringing it between the minefield and the World Ships. The Pegasus was once again acting as a last line of defence.

“Comms. Signal the Cerberus. Have them form up on our port. They’re to make ready to intercept any enemy ship once they’ve passed through, around, over, or under the mine field. Primary targets will be the cruisers.” Crazy continued to keep his voice low and calm. The comms officer just nodded, and passed the message onto the dreadnaught.

Crazy sat watching the unidentified vessels approach on the view screen. He was thinking back to the briefing. Something very disturbing had been mentioned there and it had only just come back to him. There was a spy aboard someone’s ship. And that could spell disaster for the entire operation. He looked around the crew on his bridge. He was certain that none of those currently here with him, nor on the bridge of the Cerberus could be the spy. But he was commanding a carrier. And there were thousands of people on board, and he could not be certain that there was no spy among them. It was probably more likely his ship had the spy on than any of the others. Not many people on his ship would notice a face that they had not seen around before, due to the size of the vessel. That could prove troubling.

Crazy tapped an eight digit code into the command panel on his chair, followed by a password. The AI’s voice echoed throughout the ship.

”Command lockdown initialized. Computer access is now limited to command personal only”

The bridge crew looked at Crazy with a puzzled look. He had told no-one about the spy being on board and hadn’t wanted to worry the crew. But they had to know about it now.

Crazy ignored the affirmatives, as he tapped on the console on his chair. He looked up, and his No.1 just nodded, ever so slightly. She then sent a message to the ship’s advanced AI. Her console blinked back twice, showing that the AI understood.

On board the Cerberus

Commander Andrea Nightwing made herself comfortable as she could in the hard command chair. She could never get used to these hard chairs. She made a mental note to order one of those softer ones. She was distracted from this line of thought when her command console flashed. She tapped two buttons, and a message popped up, which she quickly read then erased. She then done what Tanya had done on the Pegasus and alerted the ship’s AI to look out for any suspicious spying activity. That done, she turned her attention to the matter at hand.

“EO. Shut down our slipstream FTL capabilities and divert the extra power into weapons. Divert any extra power that would be used from shields into weapons as well. Use impulse drives #9 and #10 to boost weapons as well. Wing Commander, link our fighters to the flagship. They’ll be more effective that way.”

Comms: “Ma’am. Signal from the Pegasus. They want us formed up on their port and ready to intercept any ship coming through the mine field”

“Rodgo. Helm, position us off the Pegasus’ port. Have engines at 100% and be ready to move us. WO. Keep charging weapons. They should be nice and powerful now, with all that extra power. SO. Scanners on active. Find out anything and everything about those ships. Feed sensor data to the WO, that should help with targeting.

Now… we just wait”

Summarry
-Take fighters back on.
-Short-Jump to the flank of the the right-most cruiser-carrier Immediate crash-launch of all fighters upon exit. Auxilliary vessels (medical frigate, science ship, recreational ship) will remain behind on the system's outskirts.
-All ships immediately fire full missile salvo at the cruiser-carrier. Primary targets are communications arrays and sensor subsystems.
-Fighters will form a defensive screen in front of the capital ships and will engage the enemy fighters two-for-one wherever possible.
-Full power to AF defenses on all ships. EMP Missiles will be fired as a last resort to disable the enemy fighters if they reach close range. Advanced Tactics Computers will be used to track the fighters within range of the AF defenses and destroy them.
-All capital ships will engage the enemy cruiser carrier, aiming to destroy it as quickly as possible in order to render the enemy fighter force incoherent.
-Active scan on advanced ships probes will continue since AcidK appears to intend to draw the remaining ships to him anyway. Sensors will use the extra data from the probes to compensate for loss of sensor ability suffered from tying in the gravity wells as navigational hazards.
-Fleet Intelligence to assess enemy fighter design, look for weaknesses.
-All Marines on full alert.

*The bridge lighting dims as a deathstar shaped disco ball slowly descends from the ceiling. Funky laser effects strafe the throne room as Comms hits the music, toes start a-tapping, one thing leads to another then as the intro peaks and multiple lights focus on the centre of the dance floor, it's Kama, decked out with appropriate hair and attire, the room is suddenly alive in a full swinging disco inferno, with much strutting of several funky variaties and dizzy light and laser beams crissing, crossing and generally errupting through reflective pannelling, bathing the room in much .

*Working that dancing magic, she works over the Weapons console

"Power to the tractor beams, commence charging"

*Sliding back across the dance floor towards the No.1

"Have our other ships form up on the Outlaw Wake, I'll get the WC to launch fighters, then double back to meet the SO"

*As she flicks on a display of the fighter bays, the WC is looking less than pleased, to have been left out of the party

"... oh right, yeah, about that... er,heh... could you be a dear and scramble the fighters, rendezvous with the fighters launched from Horus and set them some waypoints to converge with the Flagship and the rest of the Fleet's squadron... Oh don't worry, we still have some fun for you planned."

*The flashing lights pulse ever faster, and Kama manages to 'appear' rather suddenly beside No.1 and the SO.

"How's the scanning... Begin locking in the mine field on our Advanced Tactics Computer (Upgraded) link the signals with our fighters, they should be able to traverse it, if you highlight the mines on their HUDs... that is, if we should need to... lets keept he option open.

The rest of our scanning power is directed at the incoming vessels, let's see what they've got... For the moment, we'll stay with the fleet, let's not provoke a confrontation if it can be avoided."

Ok, so I owe LH two posts atm.

Since I have neither of them done yet, here's a summary for both.

First Post -

- Assign Engineering Link Intellect the task of repairing the sub-light engines, and then the FTL engines
- Assign Science Link Intellect the task of scanning and analyzing the various gas giants to determine which would make the best fuel source (and biggest bomb )
- Divert most of the secondary power to shields and weapons
- Begin charging Chrono Weapons
- Have Helm Officer Link Intellect use the Kronos's thrusters to position the ship in the correct alignment with the rest of the fleet
- Have the Phoenix do the same: repairing, charging shields and weapons, and doing what it can to move behind the majority of the fleet in order to use its cloaking shield to best effect.
- Chrono Pulse Cannons: Charging, 3 posts
- Chrono Phaser 1s: Charging, 1 post

Second Post -

- Continue repairs, focusing entirely on the sub-light engines now
- Have Science link Intellect begin scans of the unknown ships, as detailed as possible
- Join up with the rest of the fleet
- Tie in Command Bridge with Bakan's to serve as a secondary networking hub
- Attempt to hail incoming ships, and warn them to immediately stop or the fleet will open fire
- Divert most of the shield power towards the arc that is directly facing the incoming ships, for both Kronos and Phoenix.
- Set Particle Array to Anti-Fighter
- When/If the hostile ships enter firing range and the rest of the fleet starts shooting, open fire on Crusier #2

Cid: Aah, we can make an ambush for them. They will think they'll have us, but we'll take them out with a suprise attack of our own...

*Cid stood up and walked accross the aisle that was no more than a simple step upwards, but Gave Cid the chance to look over the heads of everyone else. He stopped when he was right next to the front veiwscreen... It was a screen usually used for communications, however at this point it was not a screen, but a window out into space beyond, indluding the front of the Liovanda's nose and it's main Reflex Cannon 10 weapon.*

Cid: Launch all our fighters, our Destroyers are to divert all power to anti-fighter weaponry and turn most light and medium weapons for AFD uses! All fighters are to create multiple Claw Formations and defend the cruisers and the destroyers at all costs, the Liovanda can handle fighters on it's own. Warn Commander No Dachi and Commander Bakan of what I am doing, they can help in my little scheme... but not yet... wait for me to finish my plan.
FC: The Lio-Dankus and the Privateer are operating into AFD mode now, sir.
WC: Fighters are being launched and entering Claw Formations, priority set to defending the cruisers and the destroyers.
Cid: Good... Get ready with our superweapons, so soon as the C'raask appear, I want most of the larger cruisers and Hive vessels crippled before they can do anything.

Cid: Divert our FTL drive power into the sheilds on all vessels, toughen us up so we make stronger opponents.
EO: Will do, sir.
Cid: Now, inform the Commanders... Tell them we are setting up an ambush and they may wish to take part, as what I am about to do is draw every C'raask in the system towards me. I will perform an Active Scan for the system, this will draw there attention and come running towards me to ambush me, but I am ready to ambush them back. Your involvement, if you wish to accept, is to suddenly appear at their flanks and launch a suprise attack that they wont even know about until it's too late. End transmission...

*Cid smiled as he rose his arm to signal his crew to have his full attention. He kept it for five seconds before poiting it forward and grinning.*

Ryon: Very Good AI -

He was interrupted at the sudden loss of power and the engines and he looked toward his senior officers with determination.

Ryon: Officers, have all crew mates ready for anything. I want ship efficiency up to 80% even with the primary powers off. AI, I want channels open and send out a scan of the area with the power we have. I want to know if anything is about to sneak up on us.

Officers and AI : As you Command

Ryon swiveled again in a 360. This was his first starship ever of this magnitude. All these men were relying on him to bring them victory, fame, fortune, and eternal life. With Ryon JKar they would all achieve their dreams. Even if it wasn't quite true, it was a hope, it was the dream of The Burning and everone that believed in it would be ultimately happy in the end.

AI: Listen into all channels... when you find a lock on a communications port. Signal me. As of now, fire thrusters. We need to investigate this system.

I'm just wondering, do they know my cloaked escort carriers are there? I deployed them while they were under cloak 1 post ago, so unless they've scanned for cloaked ships...?

The battle scarred hull still looked tough, along the side, 'The Victor' in blue paint was clearly illuminated by lights. Under that in smaller print was 'Corsair Military Assistance Vessel' the Mercenary company name for which Blake worked for.

Blake: "Position us between the minefield and the World Ships, we can pelt them as soon as they leave the mines. Don't get us too close though, I dont want to end up hitting them mines."

Helm: "Yes sir."

Blake: "Start scanning those ships, pick out every detail we can. And charge up the Phased Particle Phaser."

Science: "Starting Scans now, what now sir?"

Blake: "Now, we wait."

And Now - The Post

*Swearing under her breath, Iris McClain stretched her arms into a junction box. Looking up at the narrow confines of one of the many maintenance tubes that stretched throughout the inside of the ship, she gritted her teeth and grabbed one of the circuit boards and yanked it out. Looking at it under the dim light, she swore as she saw the burnt sections on the board. At the very least it prevented the entire power-grid from shorting out from the feedback when the Glory reentered normal space. Reaching towards her belt, she pulled out an identical board and reached back into the junction box and inserted the new board. Instantly lights started blinking on the junction box, and the tube started to hum with recessed power. Hitting a level on top of the box, the junction box slowly slid back into the side of the tube. Crawling along, Iris McClain checked the status display on the next junction box, and saw that it was worked properly. Pulling her wrist up to her mouth, she hit the button to link her to her engineering staff.*

Iris McClain: “Hey guys, I got the power line 3A working again, we have engines yet?”

Engineering Staff: ”Negative, we still read null power down here. Apparently we have another shorted junction box around line 2A, teams are on it. Until that is repaired, the computer won’t allow the main engines to be restarted.”

Iris McClain: “What about a bypass of that section?”

Engineering Staff: ”I don’t know, that shock shorted out most of the safety mechanisms, the ADCT teams are working on it. We are lucky that the entire power grid didn’t blow out from the feedback.”

Iris McClain: “I know, just yell at those teams to work faster.”

Engineering Staff: Aye sir.”

*Still swearing, Iris started crawling through the tube, pulling out a data pad linked to the engineering computer system, seeing where the computer was saying the next major malfunction was located.*

Location: Bridge

Incom Morgan: “How many ships have you detected?”

Tara Dudoc: “I’m counting 15 ships, 3 Cruiser-sized, 12 frigate sized. They are on a intercept course towards us at battle-speeds.”

Incom Morgan: “Kyle Carter, call battle-stations. Mr. Hubart Riggs, I want full shields up and get the gunnery crews to their stations.”

Kyle Carter: “Battle-stations, aye!”

Hubart Riggs: “Shields are up, full power. Weapons are charged, gunnery crews at the ready.”

*As his first officer called the ship to battle-stations, Incom Morgan stood up and walked towards the system tactical hologram. Already having generated the wire frame images of both the friendly ships and the incoming unknown ships, Incom Morgan swore. Without engines they were sitting ducks.*

Incom Morgan: “Kate Perrin, hail the incoming ships. Inform them that we are here to gather fuel, that’s it. We have no desire for a fight, but if they don’t respond or change their vector, we will have no choice but to defend ourselves with lethal force.”

Kate Perrin: “Sending transmission, all channels.”

Incom Morgan: “Since we have already been detected, Tara Dudoc, I want you to do a full active scan of the sector, utilize every sensor package we have onboard.”

Tara Dudoc: “You do know that if there is anyone in this sector, they will probably be able to detect our scan.”

Incom Morgan: “I know, but we need to know what is in this sector, especially if those ships are hostile. If they have detected us and are from this system, they most likely have sent communications back to their home system. We have lost the element of stealth, thus we need to get as much intelligence as possible. Also we need to know where we can get resources. Scan planets IV, VII, VIII, IX, X and XII in particular.”

Tara Dudoc: “Beginning full sensor scan of system, beginning filtering of the data.”

Incom Morgan: “While you are it, download all sensor data to the Police Cruiser via hardlines.”

*Hitting a button on the hologram, Incom Morgan watched the unknown ships continue to close in. To his eye, it would be a matter of minutes before they were in firing range. With only minutes to act, Incom Morgan looked over at the other ships in the fleet, and smiled. Hearing a beep as a communications channel was opened to the fighter bay.*

Incom Morgan: “Coran Kline, launch all fighters. I want Dragon and Samurai Squadrons to form up for bombing runs, remaining fighters switch over to anti-fighter cover for our fleet.”

Corran Kline: ”Mission parameters confirmed, launched now.”

*Watching as several dots appeared on the hologram representing fighters scrambled around the Glory, Incom Morgan thought about the fleet, and the resources available.*

Tara Dudoc: “Sir, I’m getting a transmission from Captain Darkling, he is offering his assistance, while admitting he as a untrustworthy record.”

Hubart Riggs: “His ship has a advantage against those ships due to it’s size. Also, based on the weapon payloads on all our ships, I have come up with a firing solution.”

Kyle Carter: “Sir, his reputation though, how will we know he won’t retreat.”

Incom Morgan: “We don’t, but I have a idea. Assign Dragon and Samurai squadrons to cover his ship. Also, I know it’s against procedure, but I have been in closed-communications with the tactical officers of the other ships in our fleet, and we have worked out a plan if they ARE hostile. Tara Dudoc, get me our fleet on comms.”

Tara Dudoc: “Aye sir, you are on.”

Incom Morgan: “This is Captain Incom Morgan of the Glory. We have unknown ships heading towards us. Judging from their speeds and vector’s, they are probably hostile, thus we must take measures to defend ourselves. Kate Perrin: “Targeting data sent. Your still on.”

Incom Morgan: “We have a valid plan, but we should NOT fire first. We don’t know what we are facing, if they are hostile or friendly. I’m betting they are hostile knowing out luck, however, until they commit a hostile act, we hold fire. Once they fire, then we have a clear case, and can kick their collective asses back to where they came. That is all, good luck.”

*Sighing, Incom Morgan looked at the bridge crew, smiled, then hit a button to engineering.*

Incom Morgan: “Iris McClain, where are my engines?”

*What comes out of the comm. is a long series of expletives and swears, most of them very colorful, describing the ship and engines in less than nice terms. Quickly hitting the channel closed, Incom Morgan looks sheepishly at the rest of the bridge staff.*

Incom Morgan: “I guess we have a answer there.”

Location: Engineering

*Swearing as the channel closed, Iris McClain slammed her hands against the master control panel in engineering. The past several minutes, several breakers were replaced, junction boxes checked, and power lines scanned. All of them read as operational and running now thanks to the ADCT teams, but the engines STILL refused to reactivate.*

Iris McClain: “Dorothy, what about the Secondary couplers, could those have been overloaded?”

Dorothy: ”Negative, they would have automatically opened once the EPS conduit B6-4 was replaced.”

Iris McClain: “We should be able to reenable the main engines, why won’t you enable them?!?”

Dorothy: ”Because I’m still detecting a instability in the power grid, which will cause the grid to overload once main power is restored.”

*Cursing, Iris McClain spun around and kicked the underside of the Master Control Panel. Suddenly all the lights dimmed, and Dorothy’s hologram flickered, then activated, brightening far greater than normal.*

Iris McClain: “Ummm, what happened?”

Dorothy: ”Well, you emotional outburst apparently…… knocked a sensor relay chip properly into it’s slot, causing a hardware error. Normally I would have detected it, but sorting all the incoming sensor and targeting data is causing me to have issues. The overload we first experience must have dislodged it somewhat, feeding me false data. All engines are in the green.”

Iris McClain: “Will that happen again if we get another shock like that?”

Dorothy: “I would suspect the same exact thing. It depends on the situation.”[/i]

*Grumbling, Iris McClain reaches to her belt and pulls out a roll of the most useful equipment she has, a roll of “duct tape”, whose origins were lost in history. Opening up the panel, she pulls of a small piece of “duct tape” and sees the circuit. It is obvious for it is barely in. Reaching in, she pushes it in all the way, and then applies the duct tape to secure it. Smiling she replaces the panel and hits the com-link.*

Iris McClain: “Bridge we have main engines NOW!”

*Hitting the key controls, Iris McClain smiles as the decks start vibrating slightly as the engines reactivate, sending power to all system.*

Iris McClain: “Bridge we have main engines NOW!”

Incom Morgan: “Excellent, re-route one slipstream core from FTL to shield power, another to weapons. Keep the third one on standby for FTL travel if we need to make a quick getaway.”

Iris McClain: ”Rerouting power aye, all systems read 100% now.”

Incom Morgan: “Good job. Now, launch our police cruisers, transmit orders as follow via hardline. They are to once cleared of us, and set courses for Planets IX and X. Their missions, gather as much resources as possible, then return here. If they come under attack, they are to evade, using all necessary force. Otherwise they are to avoid contact and not use communications.”

Iris McClain: “They confirmed orders.”

Kyle Carter: “Police Vessels launched.”

*Outside, from either side of the Glory, the two Police Cruisers slowely were pushed away from the hull by the grapplers that hold them in place. Once clear of their docking mounts, their fired their thrusters, pulling themselves away from the Glory. Firing their impulse engines, they pulled themselves away from the Glory and activated their cloaking devices. Fading from both visual and sensors, they invisibly changed their courses towards the planets.*

Kyle Carter: “Polices Cruisers launched and cloaked.”

Corran Kline: ”Sir, we have formed up with Captain Darkling’s ship, we are ready to go when you are.”

Incom Morgan: “Lewis Bean, now that we have engines again, change course to face the incoming ships. We have better shields, we can take weapons fire better. If they attack, initiate evasive maneuvers, with a eye towards keeps up within weapons range of the Cruisers.”

Lewis Bean: “That will be some interesting flying, but I can handle it.”

Incom Morgan: “Notify all stations, have Trisha McCoy prepare our medical facilities, have all security forces armed and put on the ready.”

Kyle Carter: “All stations report ready.”

Incom Morgan: “Excellent, all ships, prepare for combat, but do not fire first. I don’t want to start a fight, but by the light we will finish it if they start it.”

Summary

  • Hail incoming ships, requesting to know their purpose, and warning them if they don’t answer and break off.

"Feed our 'vettes all the information you get. I take it you are smart enough to use our full sensors package, including the Astrometrichs?"

SO - "Of course, Ma'am."

Fluffie had, by now, found his seat. Sitting in it, he looked at the viewscreen. Though not displayed on them, he saw the names of the men he had lost earlier. A bad feeling. The rest of his crew seemed to handle it better than he, but maybe he felt worse because he was, ultimately, the one responsible for them all.

The SO looked up, looking at Fluffie - who, however, did not respond. So Dedt did.

"Yes...?"

SO - "Looks like a minefield has been deployed by Captain Ur Quan, between the World Ships and the incoming vessels."

"Alright then, lets get us somewhere between this side of the mine field and the World Ships. All drives full power, shut down Slipstream Drives' FTL functions and have them boost weapon and shield power. All Helmsmen, we are going to be fighters."

A sudden jolt of activity and... energy had flown into Fluffie and with that, into the rest of his crew.

"Keep feeding sensor data directly into the ships' computers. Get the Advanced Tactics Computers online, link them up with our weapons and score direct hits - keep firing at the exact same location. Don't prime missiles, bombs, mines and torpedoes yet, we'll save those for when the day gets real rainy."

Outside, in the black void of space, the massive engines on the three pirate ships flared up brightly. They certainly were the fastest and most agile ships in the fleet. Speeding away, the crew prepared itself for battle....

*Captain Hewitt was in a bad mood and the crew knew it. If the recent family tragic wasn't enough of a stress getting bogged down with the larger engine array in the fleet had put Hewitt close to boiling point.*

*Slumping back into the comfy captain's chair Hewitt proceeds to remove a small flask of SR brand whisky from a secret compartment. Looking around to make sure no one was paying any particular attention he takes a good, long swig.*

Ahhhhh...

TO: Captain.

Hewitt: *Nearly chokes in the mad dash to hide his whisky, prompting a coughing fit.* Yes *cough!* TO, wh-*cough! cough!*-at is it? *ahem*

TO: I have the read outs for the plan the fleets other TO's and I worked out. With our impressive weapon readouts I managed to score us around a third of the enemy fleet and even snuck in a possible capture into the equation.

Hewitt: Let me see. *Grabs the datapad.* Hmm... good, good... make it so TO.

TO: Yes sir! *Salutes then wanders off to do his job.*

EO: Sir, the AD/C teams have almost finished recalibrating our main engines for this environment.

FO: Teams on our other ships report likewise sir.

Hewitt: Excellent, just in time too. I can't wait to kick some ass again.

No 1: (Note to LH - this is the EO whom escaped from Pandora) Sir, I hope I do not need to remind you of the dangers of rushing in headlong into the unknown. If we're lucky we won't need to fight at all.

Hewitt: *Goes silent.*

No 1: Forgive me sir. I keep forgeting the sensitivity of the subjec-

Hewitt: That's ok No 1. Your advice is always valuable... why don't you go and see if you can't help out in engineering?

No 1: Will do sir. *Walks off*

SO: Sir, it is my duty to inform you sir that Captain Incom's vessel is performing an active scan of the area. We should receive the information soon.

Hewitt: *Takes another swig of whisky, this time in full view of the crew.* SO, switch to active scans and focus your attention on the unknown vessels. I want to know everything there is to know about them - their shields, their weapons, their drives, everything down to what the captain likes to drink the most.

SO: very well sir. I'll see what I can dig up.

*Suddenly everything lurches backwards causing Hewitt to spill some of his drink. Cursing under his breath Hewitt does his best to brush off most of his firewater before it soaks into his nice clean shirt.*

EO: Sir our main engines are back online. I'm receiving full power across the board. And what power it is! And it's all at my fingertips!! MWAHAHAHAHA!!!

Hewitt: ...

EO: *Ahem* Sorry sir, got a little carried away there...

Hewitt: Just divert all our excess power into our shields and be quiet.

EO: Yes sir.

TO: Weapons online, bio-phasers charging. This is it sir...

*One by one each of the five cruisers in the reformed BA squadron come back to life as their engines are restarted. Once this is accomplished, all ships move into position to await the arrival of the unknown fleet.*

- There are 18 Jupiter fighters in all making each group a total of 9, not 8.

- The weapons listed from the anti-fighter cover are from each of the three older ships respectively. Hence the repetiton.

- Battle Frigate #8: Nemesis is only going to launch 2 EMP missile groups, not 4.

Comms: "Yes, Capt'n!"

Bogg: "Sarah, what's our status?"
WO: "AMD and AFD have been activated. particle array has been set to AFD. All systems are at 100% and our PPP8's are still charging, captain."
Bogg: "Mister l'Oven; I thought I ordered you to use our slipstream drives to boost our weapons and shields? What's the delay?"
EO: "I'm sorry captain, but I can't seem to do it without disabling the slipstream drives' FTL ability."
Bogg: "We won't be needing that, turn it off and boost those systems right now!"

WO: "Sure thing, captain. Our upgraded targetting computer can do that easily. With some luck I might even be able to deduce their plan of attack."
Bogg: "Excellent! I also want you to post extra security guards at important sections in the ship that house crucial shipsystems such as the weapons, shields, engineering and also outside Alison's quarters. Anyone that behaves suspiciously is to be arrested immediately."
WO: "Consider it done, captain."

Bogg: "What about you Yvonne, have you come up with some dashing evasive moves yet?"
Helm: "I have programmed some standard evasive and offensive patterns. The enemy ships are still flying in formation, it's too early to come up with anything useful."
Bogg: "Oh. Bummer."

Bogg: "Comms, open a channel to commander Speckles. Make it a secure channel, I'll take it in my room."
Comms: "Link established, Sir."
* Bogg walks to his (nearby) room, taps some buttons next to a viewscreen and Alison's face appears on it.
Bogg: "I know you need your rest, but perhaps there's something you can do for me?"
No1: "Oh, not now Phinneas. You know these injuries have to heal first. Ask Sarah or Laura to do it for you if you're that desperate."
Bogg: "Actually, I wanted you to do something else."
No1: "Really? That's new to me."
Bogg: "Ahum, yes, well, I was thinking that since we might have a spy on board this ship and you're not doing anything important at the moment, I thought you could perhaps keep track of unusual activities onboard the ship?"
No1: "Well, that sounds boring!"
Bogg: "I'm sorry, you know I'd much rather have you on the bridge, but you have to heal first."

Bogg: "I've already posted extra guards at important locations, including outside your quarters and I've asked l'Oven to keep an eye on systems and Leetdude to montitor communications, but I'd like to observe stuff on board the ship as well, just in case. You can do it from your bed. And even though there are guards outside your quarters, do take good care of yourself, Alison."
No1: "Alright, I'll see what I can do and don't worry about me. I have a phase-rifle within reach and a disruptor pistol under my pillow."

Crazy sat watching the unidentified vessels approach on the view screen. He was thinking back to the briefing. Something very disturbing had been mentioned there and it had only just come back to him. There was a spy aboard someone’s ship. And that could spell disaster for the entire operation. He looked around the crew on his bridge. He was certain that none of those currently here with him, nor on the bridge of the Cerberus could be the spy. But he was commanding a carrier. And there were thousands of people on board, and he could not be certain that there was no spy among them. It was probably more likely his ship had the spy on than any of the others. Not many people on his ship would notice a face that they had not seen around before, due to the size of the vessel. That could prove troubling.

Crazy tapped an eight digit code into the command panel on his chair, followed by a password. The AI’s voice echoed throughout the ship.

”Command lockdown initialized. Computer access is now limited to command personal only”

The bridge crew looked at Crazy with a puzzled look. He had told no-one about the spy being on board and hadn’t wanted to worry the crew. But they had to know about it now.

“All right people. Listen up. New combat procedures as of from today. I don’t want the ship open to those who might sabotage our efforts. SO. Continue active scans on enemy ships. Find out which ship is the lead vessel. See if you can find any weak spots that we can exploit. WO, set our particle array to AFD mode. The Cerberus will take care of any capital ships for now. We’ll be guarding the world ships from any fighters that get through. Wing Commander, signal all squadrons. Have them engage any fighter that seems hostile, but they’re not to leave the world ships.”

Crazy ignored the affirmatives, as he tapped on the console on his chair. He looked up, and his No.1 just nodded, ever so slightly. She then sent a message to the ship’s advanced AI. Her console blinked back twice, showing that the AI understood.

On board the Cerberus

Commander Andrea Nightwing made herself comfortable as she could in the hard command chair. She could never get used to these hard chairs. She made a mental note to order one of those softer ones. She was distracted from this line of thought when her command console flashed. She tapped two buttons, and a message popped up, which she quickly read then erased. She then done what Tanya had done on the Pegasus and alerted the ship’s AI to look out for any suspicious spying activity. That done, she turned her attention to the matter at hand.

“EO. Shut down our slipstream FTL capabilities and divert the extra power into weapons. Divert any extra power that would be used from shields into weapons as well. Use impulse drives #9 and #10 to boost weapons as well. Wing Commander, link our fighters to the flagship. They’ll be more effective that way.”

Comms: “Ma’am. Signal from the Pegasus. They want us formed up on their port and ready to intercept any ship coming through the mine field”

“Rodgo. Helm, position us off the Pegasus’ port. Have engines at 100% and be ready to move us. WO. Keep charging weapons. They should be nice and powerful now, with all that extra power. SO. Scanners on active. Find out anything and everything about those ships. Feed sensor data to the WO, that should help with targeting.

Now… we just wait”

SO: Sir! C'raask vessels are coming straight for us! Commander No Dachi has been trying to fight them, but they are ignoring him and have not even had a scratch on their sheild power.

Comms: There's a message for you, Sector Commander, from the Shraan Fleet Admiral.
Cid: What does my father want at a time like this?
Comms: Shall I place it onto your private message screen?
Cid: Yes, do it.

*The message appeared in what would have been a very dodgy script of odd shapes and disfunctioned letters. It was, in fact, Old Shraan language, something not many young Shraanians would understand. On this vessel there was only five people that would understand the language: Himself, Kosaga (his Number One), Uliya (Ex-Captain of the Liovanda), Pio Jurn (The Science Officer) and Dannik Lavii (The Comms Oficer).*

Cid: Is he now? Thats interesting...
No1: Care to inform what the message says, sir?
Cid: He wants me to recruit the Commander No Dachi... Odd, I always thought the Clans would want it the other way around...
Uliya: Your father's probably thinking we are in need of extra support...
Cid: We are already allied with the Allysians... Then again, they have their own agenda... Nether the less, I will carry out his order later on. Right now, we have a little more serious matters in mind.

*Cid stood up and walked to the veiwscreen, clasping his arms behind his back and smiling to himself secretly. He hated the C'raask for various reasons, now he might get his chance to see what they are really capable of. He knew normal weapons would have little effects on the vessels, but he had the advantage of Kylithium on virtually every single weapon on every single ship within his own fleet. If the records were correct, it would make a huge difference in this battle.*

*He then proceeded to admire the design of the Liovanda itself. It was long rather than simple 'Big', with three massive out-dents that strentched from the front of the Concordat Battlestar all the way to the back. Each 'dent' held ten Heavy Missile pods at the top edges and, on the sides, held seven Pulse Phasers on a staggered orientation in equal lengh apart so there was no blind spots. The 'dents' were in a 3-point star position, two across the side and one on the bottom-end of the Concordat. There was a smaller, thinner 'dent' that ran from the dent-mid-point (the location of the Reflex Cannon 10), holding other weapons such as a pulse phaser, a battle-laser and the openings to five cruise-missile pods.*

*In between all the dents held a massive array of AFD and AMD weapons as well as the remaining fifteen cruise-missile pods that we situated nearer the front of the ship. The hangers themselves were nearer the back of the Concordat, defended by AFD weapons to stop launching fighters from being bombarded. The bridge itself sat on the back-most area of the smaller dent, raising a little, Cid's face clearly shown in the massivly thick permaglass as he looked out of it. Cid admired this ship for general design as well as firepower. Suddenly Cid snapped out of his daze and began to look sharp.*

Cid: right, lets give them a big, warm, Shraanian welcome! As soon as they are firing range, lock onto the nearest Cruiser possible, move slightly more into damaging range and then rip them a new one. I want every single Heavy Missile on the Liovanda to fire directly at the nearest C'raask Vessel! Also, I want the Defender to launch all of it's EMP missiles! Take the sheilds to allow Commander No Dachi to rip them apart!
WO: Beginning on locking now, sir.
Cid: Get our fighters to move into intercepting those Swarm Fighters! However, I want them to lure the fighters nearer the Liovanda so our Anti-Fighter Defences can rip them a new one! Formations are to remain in order to counter their typical Skirmish Formation.
SO: Sir... Erm... that is what I was about to say... they are entering Skirmish Formation...

Cid: What I'd do for Swarm Hive Bombers and Pro-Tex Starfighters right now... Make it so!
WC: Orders sent to the fighters, Sector Commander.
Cid: Also, I want the Lio-Dankus and the Defender to move into firing range, fire their superweaposn and then retreat a little to help the Liovanda coutner any fighters that come close. The Privateer, being our only Anti-Fighter Destroyer, is to remain near the Liovanda for definate Anti-Fighter protection.
FC: Orders are being sent, sir.
Cid: How goes our sheild defences?
EO: They are at 120%, sir.
Cid: Good, continue to strengthen them, I don't want the C'raask Cruisers to fire their Bio-Missiles on us with too much injury!
EO: Aye, Sector Commander! I will use the utmost caution not to overdo it and blow our sheilds out.
Cid: Good...

*Cid smiled as he watched out the veiwsceen, the massive C'raask Vessels on approach. He spoke more or less towards the C'raask, hoping they would hear his voice.*

Cid: Welcome to hell, fellas, today... you will die.

Question though LH - we've had 2 DMing posts since the initial "approaching ships 2 posts off", they're firing at extreme range, next post it will be long range, and we can fire back? Then the following round, (time to mission end = 6) Medium range, mine field fun?

engine repwirs done
shield boost done and taken into account
ship scan no data other than that picked up by darkling
the command link is the bit that says battle plan as per bakan

Fianlly, liovanda design is completed, gunna place it on Elfwood...

Note that I made 3 pictures of my design, a veiw that shows the entire Concordat, a veiw that shows the front and a veiw of the bridge and the 3 nearest cannons to it.
