That's horrible. The poor girl

A kid here was "stabbed" by another a few weeks ago, using scissors. Apparently it was an accident.

Unlucky for the stabber, the stabbee's parents were a nurse and an armed policeman. They've kept the blazer for evidence and are pushing for expulsion for the boy who used the scissors.

Serves them right. Violent little twats.

The worst part about this one is it very obviously wasn't an accident.
The girl who got slashed was decent enough to stand up for another person, and this is the revenge for her daring to do so.

IMO there should (obviously) be no hesitation over kicking the attacker out of the school, and if I had anything to do with it, straight into juvi. If she's capable of that at 12, I don't want her out and about at 18 without having had a few lessons taught.

No Idea, My dad kicked the sh*te out of me for getting suspended from school (about 13 year ago) Cause some lad battered my mate, So I did the same to him. My dad is a Minister of the church aswell. Needless to say I picked my school fights carefully after that.

I do honestly think kids will do things as long as they get away with it.
I do blame the Good doers/Social workers.

pff, I think hurting ur kids just toughens them up
I think its the key to teach them about moral and get a good honest relation between urself and the kids
so that they feel more responsible for their actions towards themselfs, those around them and society..

I've always been able to admit what ive done to my parents.. and ive learned from it
Its not like I dont pick fights coz im scared of the punishment or losing.. I just that I think its wrong

I've never hesitated to defend myself tho if someone attacks me or a friend

I'm not really sure of the point of this story.

Some kids are shit. Some people are shit.

the only result I can really see from this is that some people will be more hesitant to hep others in the future, which in turn leads to a culture of fear and isolation allowing hooligans to think they can get away with more shit It's a vicious cycle.

This is all part of growing up. It is perfectly normal. It's just this one time the damage caused was exciting enough to justify a news story.

100 years ago this sort of incident would have been ignored by the press (yes they had pencil sharpeners back then). The only difference in the modern world is the level of sensationalism we see in the press!

I agree with yahwe. This is all so silly and overreactive. I mean I was reading this story in the paper the other day about an escaped slave who had run amok with a rifle downtown. I mean slavery was widespread 200 years ago. I myself owned a few slaves. It helped them as well though, taught them to keep their place and not to look too far above their station or push the boundaries society had set for them. It's no good sitting there on your moral high horses complaining about the decline in the living conditions they're being kept it. It's all perfectly normal, society didn't collapse back then and it won't now. Life imprisonment? I assume that's the never applied maximum sentence? I remember about 3 or 4 years ago there were a lot of angry feminists on the news because the average convicted rapist was only serving about seven years. Good to see the pendulum's arcing up.

Well there's also the necessary adjuncts (for it to have a point) of that a) this does happen and it's b) worth doing something about. Most of the time when we're confronted with these sorts of things everyone shakes their head and mutters something about the decline in values yet do very little or nothing about it. Less talk and more action I say. Or more talk and less action, I'm never too sure where I stand on these things.

That violence in our society appears to be on the increase? This story is really sick tbh. I bet that in the same school, there have been fights that have caused far worse damage but it isn't visible. For example, in my school some guy who was around 6"6 got his jaw broken with one punch. No buddies, this is a case where a completely normal 12 year old girl learned a valuable life lesson by slashing another girl in the face with a razor. This is all part of the learning experience that all children must go through. At one point in our childhood we've all lost control and violently attacked another child with a weapon.

In many ways it's like getting your period for the first time.
