A story of loss
Tragic loss nonetheless.
Last night some pikey got through our kitchen window and stole £50 of my booze (and, strangely, some kitkats). Please take a moment to mourn this terrible event with me
That is all.

Comedy gold - the hall office got me to report it to the police for the crime reference number. Long story short, we now have people coming round to dust for fingerprints.
Slightly over the top, but whatever.

What type of booze?
(P.S. And what type of kitkat, come to think of it?)

They stole gin without tonic, and Pimm's without lemonade?
Burglars are really going downhill these days.

Re: A story of loss
How do you know it was pikeys?
Why would pikeys steal any alcohol other than cheap cider?!

Re: A story of loss
Update:
The police came round. Two police in fact. A scenes of crime dude and an ordinary dude. The SOC man dusted for prints and found sweet FA, and the ordinary one took a statement which I had to sign in 5 different places (I kid ye not) for some reason. He also wanted to know if I'd want to go to court if they found whoever did it heh. I thanked him but turned down his kind offer.
All in all I think significantly more police resources were spent following up an unsolvable and minor crime than the losses I sustained. It all seems a bit OTT. All I really wanted was a crime reference number.

My bike was stolen two weeks ago and the police seemed remarkably uninterested. Gave me a crime number over the phone but that was it. Maybe the Birmingham police have less time on their hands than wherever you are, though.

Re: A story of loss
Well I can only surmise that it's a very slow day in Leicestershire for two policemen to be round less than 2 hours after a student reports a few bottles of spirits missing.

They might have a special on break-ins this week.
Or have had a series of similar incidents recently.
