Coup in Thailand?
Tanks appear to have appeared around the thai government building, the Thai PM has declared a state of emergency and the military is doing crazy stuff with the TV.

Re: Coup in Thailand?
Apparently the PM is some corrupt bastard, so I don't think this is such a bad thing.

If corruption was the reason for a coup then every country in the world would have one every few weeks.

He sold off the country's media company to some foreign investors, making his family $1.9bn. Before that, he had been the only person in history to complete a four year term as head of the Thai government. After that, he was forced by protests to call an election for April of this year. Most opposition candidates refused to run and most people refused to vote in protest to his continual fighting on, and even in unopposed seats some members of his party failed to get the number of votes required to become an MP. The country had too few MPs to ever run, and thus the king stepped in and asked the courts to sort it out. They declared that the election was void, and would be redone later this year.
And now we have a bloodless coup against a guy everyone hates who's not in the country.

Re: Coup in Thailand?
Tourists are out in force in Bangkok getting thier photo's taken sitting on the tanks. The locals are bringing drinks and ice-creams to the troops guarding the goverment house.
I guess the Army got the popular vote over this.
