You're probably ordering yours from some cheap site on the internet, but my pricelist clearly shows those shields to be 50000 each, making your new 'personal ride' about 3 times more expensive. :eek:

And I was wondering how on Andromeda this guy happened to have over 2 million credits whereas I have only one third of that.

Right, I've done a completely new design with the funds I have and rather than looking up what everything I have costs and then claim the credits for that, I just took all the credits I ever got and added them up (it was way faster ).
These credits are:
+150 000 starting funds
+ 95 000 first mission reward
+175 000 christmas bonus
+ 75 000 restarting bonus at the start of this thread
+ 9 500 a present from AcidK after our first mission
+ 74 200 from selling both scoutships I got for the second mission
+ 5 000 from selling the orbital satellites we got at the start of the game
+ 95 000 second mission reward (since the missions we were doing when the thread was stopped are assumed to have been finished and I did not get an answer when twice I asked whether or not I was entitled to this, I have just assumed that I am and have claimed it. If I was wrong to do so, please let me know, thanks.)

This leaves me with a grand total of 678700 plus 10 Mark 3 Probes that we got along with the orbital satellites and that I have decided to keep because I couldn't find their price.

This probably makes me look really pedantic, but I was just looking at your ship and then I saw a couple of things that looked a bit odd to me:

- You buy 2 particle cannons, 2 heavy disruptors and 2 reflex missiles, but only pay for 1 of each. (I take it the c300 for the heavy disruptors are a typo, as they cost 3000 each.)

- You don't pay anything for your 20 Pyrian Teleporter Brigades?

- Do you get special discounts when purchasing fighters? According to my list (which is the same one as the one posted by LH at the start of the thread) a ‘Draconic’ Class Interceptor Striker costs 1900, so 20 of them cost 38000 and not 18000. 10 x ‘Drake’ Class Anti Capital Ship Striker cost 60000 and not 11000 and 5 x ‘Draciel’ Class Troop Transport Striker cost 30000 as they go for 6000 each.

The weapons stuff I just forgot to change the list to reflect how many I bought, but I added the money to the final total. The 300 is a mistype. I get discounts for the fighters cos I designed em. The brigades, I'm not sure. I believe that I payed for them, but I can't be sure. The ship was ok the first time round, I just added a few additional systems in this time.

I have done some calculating and that free ship of yours would cost about 1675750 credits. You picked the most expensive and probably also the best stuff. A ship like that will create a huge gap in resources with the rest of us. I don't mind differences in ships and money or whatever, but I think this is clearly overdoing it. And sure, there's more to this thread than shipstats, there's also the actual playing, but isn't half the fun in accumulating credits so you can get that big weapon or those powerful ships or that überleet engine to upgrade your ship with? Wouldn't getting them for free take all that fun away? If you ask me (which I'm sure you don't, but I'll say it anyway) there should be a limit of say 500000 credits to that free ship. That amount is about the same as what the rest of can spend on their ships.

Because what you will do next, is that you sell the cruiser hull and a couple of those armed platform and other things you don't really use and get yourself a bigger ship, like a dreadnaught or a base star or something even bigger and then you transfer all your current equipment to that one. You now have practically a limitless supply of impulse drives, phase shields. I'm guessing you've just not thought about equipping all those external mounts with battle fighter omni hulls and loading up on their slots too, or I'm sure you'd have done that.

As for the idea, I doubt that you're the only one that invented the plot where a couple of brave starfighter pilots have to protect a convoy of colony ships filled with people that are fleeing from some type of oblivion at the hands of an alien race. As a matter of fact; have you ever heard of Battlestar Galactica? Probably not as I think it was before your time. Did you compensate the creator of that series in any way for using his idea?

Ur Quan, I don't think it's your place nor right, Number 1 or not, to tell other players how they should enjoy the game. You might enjoy it because you like working for credits to buy better upgrades and ships with, and this is perfectly valid (it's one of the reasons I enjoy the thread), but Bakan might not enjoy it for this reason at all. As such if he's offered a free ship and he goes for a really expensive one, I really don't see why it's your perogative to criticize him for 'spoiling the game for himself', which seems to be your reason.

Ur_Quan - Let's start off. Battle-Hull Omni-Fighters. I actually DID consider loading up with them. 26 of those fighters, but you know what... I hate fighters. In this thread I don't like using them, so I decided to give myself something that would be able to help better protect my new ship, named a series of light plasma cannons tied into a particle array. I got the assualt platforms cause I had cargo space to kill.

Next - Selling Back Items - I have a sense of honor. I'm treating this ship as a ONE-TIME-SHOT. As in, after I posetd it, except for repairs, I will not be able to alter it at ALL. This includes swapping out of wpeaons, selling equipment, etc etc. As far as I'm concerned, my ship would "die" if I removed stuff to sell it off, thus financially it's completly cut off.

Next - Battlestar Galatica - Yes, I ahve heard of it. Yes I have seen some old episodes and the new mini-series. Guess what, WE ALL STEAL FROM POPULAR MEDIA!!! Lady Hawk is notoriously guilty for this. She has stolen from Star Trek, Star Wars, Adromeda, and other sci-fi series. Have they sued her yet? Not that I know of (at least I hope they haven't). My grief was really that she stole my entire plot almost line-by-line (okay okay, the concept, right down to some of the numbers). I just asked her for some comensation, not expecting to get any, and viola, she gave it to me.

As for spoiling the game, I like the game also for the earning up enough credits to build the next thing. However I also like it for the ability to streach my space imagination, to interact with other people, to have some fun wonder if my ships will live until the ext DM or not. The credits thing is one tiny part of it all.

Finally, I don't see why you had to make such a uproar over this. As No dAchi said, it's not really your place to ditact what can be done, it's Lady Hawk's. SHE'S the DM of this thread, not you. Yes, you might be number one here, OH NO, I'm number 3, does that mean I have to bow down to you? Does that mean the rest of us have to follow your opinion. I would like to agree with you on everything you say apart from one minor thing that is the fact that my current position has nothing to do with this.
