New anti-terror laws
Just watching the news and they said it would be illegal to be trained in a terrorist training camp either in Britain or abroad.
How can they make doing something abroad illegal?

Re: New anti-terror laws
It's not unprecedented.
Companies in the EU are not allowed to sell weapons to China for example.
Also I think that US citizens are not allowed to travel to Cuba. Although maybe it's just that US airlines aren't allowed to go there. US companies can't sell stuff to Cuba either.

Re: New anti-terror laws
I just read this article http://news.ft.com/cms/s/ae4108ae-f7...00e2511c8.html and i can kinda answer your question from this article (im guessing alot).
It involves both countries being in a UN agreement/convention.

British law binds the world
Whether you can enforce it is neither here nor there.

the queen in parliament is sovereign
thus parliament can pass a law saying anything it wants.
the classic example is that parliament can ban smoking on the streets of paris if it wanted to
as lok said, enforcement can be trickier. but not i expect for this when bothe pakistan and afghanistan would hand the suspects over if we asked and it will most likely be used against people who go to these training camps and then come back.

U.S. citizens aren't allowed to import anything from Cuba either (hence the reason that Cuban cigars are illegal). This law applies even to Cuban products that U.S. citizens purchase in other countries (i.e. it's illegal for me to travel to Jamaica, buy Cuban cigars there and then bring them back to the United States).

Re: New anti-terror laws
A bit off-thread, sorry:
There's another law which really has me a bit miffed. The RIP act ( http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/crimpol...uc/regulation/) basically says that you cant have anything on your computer encrypted or password protected. If they take your poota you have to give them your passwords or you get locked up.

Re: New anti-terror laws
I'm seeing it as a sort of communist thing suppressing our right to keep things to ourselves. I'm also worried about the porn on my HD

Re: New anti-terror laws
As long as it's not kiddie porn you should be safe.
I wonder if you can get put away for having snuff films on your hard drive.

Re: New anti-terror laws
Bringing it back to the original topic for another example. The closest thing that I can think of to such a law here is a recent addition to the Crimes Act, making it illegal to partake in Asian child sex tours. Obviously they cant arrest you until you get back, but it avoids the loophole that was being exploited by peado's in countries with little or no child protection legislation.

Re: New anti-terror laws
Not as disturbing as 'Creep' when he shoves that long sharp pointy into her from the nether-regions. That freaked me out.
