[Advice] So, Amsterdam
I'm going for 3 nights, arriving at around 10:00 CET on Saturday by the time we've cleared the airport and got the train to Central Station.
Now, I'm aware many of you will have been.
I'm aware a few of you live in the Netherlands (and if you mention hockey then so help me god... you know who you are).
What cool stuff is there that I should try and fit in?
I'm not so much interested in the history/culture side of things this time (eg. no thanks to Anne Frank's house (which I've already seen anyway), and no thanks to the various art galleries etc). I'm more interested in entertainment and maybe some shopping if there's some suitably weird/crazy stuff.
Recommendations on bars, cafes, music, activities all appreciated. Bear in mind my hotel is a 1 minute walk from the station so I can get pretty much anywhere in the city with minimum effort. So far we're definately going to the Heiniken brewery, but that's the only thing everyone is agreed on wanting to do.
Thanks.
Obilgatory lawl prozzies lawl weed lawl, just to get that out of the way.

Re: [Advice] So, Amsterdam
a mate of mine went to Amsterdam and got lots of presents. One present he gave to his girlfriend and I am dying to find out how he explained how he got crabs but didn't shag a dirty hoer while he was over there.

Re: [Advice] So, Amsterdam
Hieneken Museum was pretty cool.
Find a decent riverboat cruise, one where you can have a drink and they dont cram you on like a ****ing sardine.
Other than that, **** all really, didnt think much of amsterdam aside from the 'lets git shitfaced' factor.

The big casino there is quite nice, if you like gambling.

Re: [Advice] So, Amsterdam
my planning for the weekend is this:
- fridayevening i go and train the girls;
- fridaynight i rush to campus to get halfdrunk with the rest of my runningteam (we'll do the batavierenrace).;
- at about 4am, our bus will leave to Germany, where i will run 5 miles or so;
- the rest of the morning we'll cross over the countryside in our mini-bus, following the rest of the runners;
- i expect be home at 3/4pm. then i'll take a shower, have dinner and maybe a quick nap;
- saturdayevening i will pick up my cousin and visit twente - utrecht;
- after the match, i will go from stadium to campus to party with another 12.000 students.
- saturdaynight i will try to get home somehow;
- sundayafternoon i will play my weekly hockeymatch;
- sunday-eve i'll visit my gf.
so i'm afraid i won't have time to visit amsterdam and show you around. but the place is highly overrated anyway. if you like you can visit me in Enschede saturday-eve. will pick you up from the trainstation.

Go to the Boom Chicago. It's a place where you can eat, drink beer and watch the funniest show on earth.

Re: [Advice] So, Amsterdam
Find the Raamstraat near the Leidseplein. It has a pretty awesome Belgian beer café who are absolutely well-stocked on a huge amount of great beers
Obviously aside from the obligatory walk through the Red Light District and all the musea, there's not really that much to do in Amsterdam. It's a bit of a shame that you're here this weekend and not the next, when it's Queen's Day and there's all kinds of stuff to do!
