Holidays
I wanna go away on holiday.
Im planning on going away late August/Early September.
My requirements are:
- Somewhere hot (prolly the med or nearby)
- Somewhere with a pool
- Somewhere i can drink beer by the poolside.
Thats me.
One of my friends will be coming also.
His requirements are:
- Somewhere with hills nearby (he wants to go running/hiking)
Anyone got any suggestions.
Apparantly Spain has got some areas like that but i just thought id put the question out there and hope someone here would have a clue etc.
Thanks in advance.

its mostly greek, however theres a un and british peacekeeping force there.
the northern (turkish) part is empty and shit, so no-one bothers to go.
the rest of it is pretty cool.

Re: Holidays
All i know is that if you were born in Cyrprus:
Before 01/01/1953 you were a BSUKC (British Subject United Kingdom Citizen)
Before 01/01/1983 you had Right of Abode in the UK
After 01/01/1983 you had nothing British through your birth.
And im still pretty sure it's a dependent territirory (although i have my chart at work which will tell me exactly)

Re: Holidays
It's divided in two between the south and the north. The Turkish Republic in the north is not recognised by anyone internationally. So it's supposed to be a bit of a shithole economically. The South is the 'good' bit.

It's been an independant country since 1960, duder. It just joined the EU last year. The only British link it has now (afaik) is through it's Commonwealth membership.

The Sovereign Base Areas (SBAs) are sovereign British territory and cover 98 square miles of the island of Cyprus. The SBAs are purely military in nature. They are run by the SBA Administration and have their own legislation, police force and courts. They are very closely linked with the Republic of Cyprus with whom they are in a customs and currency union.

Re: Holidays
The family villa in the South of Spain has:
- Beer (San Miguel in fridge at all times)
- Pool (newly installed)
- Hills (it's built at the top of one)
- Barbeque pit
- 15 minute drive to town
- 25 minute drive to coast
- 30 miles East of Malaga

Seriously not all of Ibiza isn't the same stereotypical british lout resort as San Antonio.
I went to Cala Llonga last week and it fulfill's all of your requirements:
-Hot
-Pools
-Beer by the poolside
-It's a resort with hills, and trees. It had quite a beautiful view apparently, if you are in to that kind of thing.
It also has few/zero Club18-30 resorts and I didn't experience a single shit faced lager lout all holiday.

Probably won't be too crowded on the beach and the beer by the pool will be nicely chilled.

Re: Holidays
Spain. It's a great country, and if you look around, you'l probably find a nice place that meets all your tastes and desires. It's a bit hardcore on the police side, but that's not really a problem for tourists.
However, you really should go to Asia. Vietnam or maybe the Phillippines. Book a cheap charter flight to Thailand, and book a flight from there to your chosen destination (or go to Thailand, but I would personally go for Vietnam)

Re: Holidays
Croatia.
Beautiful beaches, beautiful walks, cheap accomodation.
If you don´t want beaches go to Slovenia. Massive hills to walk about. Ljubliana is a lovely place as is Bled in the north.
Spain is pretty good too, Granada was a great place. Lots of bars, lots of walks around, lots of hotels, great scenery.
May be able to give more help when i´m back on monday.

Rent a Villa in Nerja, roughly 50k from Malaga, lots of hills, plenty of scenery, not too touristy (unless u look for it)
I rented a Villa just outside from James Villas, had a pool etc....although you needed a car to get to it as it was on an unmade road up the side of a mountain (slight exageration)
Villa Cortijo Elise 3 bedrooms sleeps upto 6 people, great pool, and fanastic views across the valley to Nerja.

Re: Holidays
I recommend cyprus, even though it isn't british it is very british friendly (because of the raf base there are a lot of links to the community). Avoid Ayia Napa if u don't want lager lout but paphos and protaras are nice resorts with more family feel, still plenty drink though!!!
Troodos Mountains are cool to visit too I did a walk up there and there are plenty routes
