[football] raided clubs
Anyone heard who?
Quote:
Police raid three football clubs
Police have raided three football clubs as part of an investigation into alleged corruption in football.
The operation is not connected to Lord Stevens' ongoing Quest inquiry into the Premiership and were "totally independent", police said.
City of London Police would not say which clubs were involved, or their league status.
Search warrants were executed on the club premises and two homes between 0730 and 0900 BST.

Why the **** would the Police south of England want to carry out a raid up north beyond Hertfordshire?

Souness is always one of the names banded about as one of the most corrupt people in the game.
Allardyce and Redknapp are on a similar level though.

Re: [football] raided clubs
The two individuals in question are probably Graham Souness and Willie McKay.
Probably the Jean Alain Boumsong and Amdy Faye transfers that are being looked at. lolling at the huns

Looks like the raid on Newcastle was about Souness and nothing else:
Quote:
Newcastle United issued a statement confirming the club was visited by police.
"The club itself is not the subject of the investigation," it said.
"If the investigation by the City of London Police, or the ongoing internal review of operations by the club's new owners, show that the club has been the victim of any criminal activity, the club will take appropriate action."

City of London police handle lots of the fraud and corruption stuff since they have nothing else to police.
