Just out of curiosity...
Is there really a need for a Thunderbirds movie?

Of course not, but consider this: They cast Jack Black as the green lantern.

well, I am an adult now...Thunderbirds sucked shite when I was a kid, and I'm willing to bet that the movie will follow in the footsteps of the show and be shite as well.

Thunderbirds were great as a serie, and I'm looking forward to seeing the movie, if only for some nice nostalgia.

Re: Just out of curiosity...
it should have puppets in it, or they should at least tie strings to the actors arms and make them move like that.

Theyre making a live action transformers movie too ... alas, its rumoured that Speilberg has taken an interest, so its doomed to be shit.

Thought it was Tom DeSanto from X-men and that guy from LXG that were supposed to produce it? It was gonna be touch and go anyway, live action production of transformers would be an interesting CGI feat.

Oh its on alright. Its on like you wouldnt believe.

De Santo probably still has control over the project, but as with most Dreamworks/SKG productions, expect Spielberg to stick his oar in somewhere.

Re: Just out of curiosity...
thunderburds must be in puppet form, also, the creator of the programme was told to f*ck off by the directors when he told them that what they were doing was wrong.

Re: Just out of curiosity...
I had Thunderbird Six on VHS, but not the original =((
I'd like to say that this new one is an abomination, but **** it, it's not for us, its for the mindless, fat little ****s that call themselves 'children'.

Lies. There was only five.
Two rockets, a big green thing, a submarine and a space station.
Unless the weird drilling thing that TB2 used to carry round sometimes is classed as one, but I'd have just said it was a pod not a Thunderbird.

No, there were three rockets, as I recall; the green, fat, John Prescott one, A shiny space age one, and a third metalic red hairdryer/dildo hybrid.
Yes.

Re: Just out of curiosity...
Its indicative of the lack of originality that yet again we're latching on to a concept that has already had success in the past to try and make some $$$.
Starsky and Hutch, Spiderman or any of these comic book films, the italian job, thunderbirds... nah. Stop being shite and think something new up

It depends what you mean by 'originality'; whilst these films are fairly unlikely to bring much new to the genre, be it of cinema or otherwise, that doesn't stop them being 'good films' per se.
We're only really seeing so many comic films because that's what's in vogue; if the choice of the day was, say, time travel action thrillers, they've got an equal chance of being original, rather than more as you suggest, simply because the big summer blockbuster isn't about originality; I'd actually suggest that the knowledge of the backgrounds allow for more originality in storytelling or story, simply because there are more complex possible interactions that don't need to be explained for the audience. Compare and contrast X-Men 1 and 2 and Spiderman 1 and 2 for examples of this growth of possibilities.
