very dodgy, he is killing the English scrum with his calls. The majority of the 50-50 decisions seem to be going the aussies way.

I felt so sorry for him. I've got a mate who missed the last kick of the game in the semi-final of the Lenister (one of the 3 provinces of ireland) senior cup and he was totally devastated for ages afterwards. The pressure on Flatley must have been mind-boggling, and to go through that twice and not win is horrible

Being in London does this not give you the opportunity to mock most barmen in sight?

You are counting on me being able to afford to go to a bar. However, I do know of several 'walkabouts' staffed by aussies, and frequented by aussies. If you would like to provide me with the cash requirements, I shall commence said mocking.

Re: Second half, Dodgy ref, shouldn't have been a penalty just then
they sound like very poor losers
did anyone see the papers and stuff they had out when it was determined they were to play England, saying that they have to stop Wilkinson, cos hes the only one who can win it, and only by kickng, which they say is pathetic....
maybe the assuies are forgetting something here.. who was it that won the last world cup and reason being they relied heavily on the drop goal kicking of one of their players hmm? without that they wouldnt have made it into the semis last time

but then again maybe we wouldnt have been proper ****ed... the Aussies found it very hard to cross our line. we got closer to it on a few occasions with quick outbursts, but our defence was almost immaculate

The only way i can look at it.... how many tries did previous world cup winning sides attain in the three knockout rounds of the world cup?
I dont know - but ill bet that it was a damn site more than 2 in 250+ minutes of rugby

As someone who played schools rugby for one of the top schools in the british isles (go me it's my birthday) I can tell you it really ****ing sucks if you have one team that plays fantastic flowing try-scoring rugby and runs the ball only to be outdone by a one man army. To be honest it's a shockingly poor advertisement for the game. The 1991 world cup was epitomised by David Campese who never seemed to score a bad try, the 95 world cup was Jonah Lomu running over defenders, the 99 world cup was really really gay and about defences but it still had lomu running over defenders. The 03 world cup is an advertisement for getting one man in your team and having him kick 20 points a game minimum. If New Zealand or France had won it the image of rugby that would have been promoted would have encouraged far more young people to take up the sport. To be honest "yeah well our tactics are the bestest" is a shit argument. Rugby is a sport, it's a game and it's supposed to be fun. I just cannot fathom how playing that style of rugby can be fun.

Liverpool tried this argument when they won 5 trophies etc etc.
Fact is they played shite football, they knew it and everyone else knew it, so no one cared.

The best bit was when they counted the charity shield as a trophy as well as the European super cup.

[quote=JonnyBGood]Means don't justify ends.
[quote]
If Wales had used the most boring tactics in the world but beaten Russia in the football playoffs or got to the rugby final I wouldn't care I would just be celebrating us getting there.
England didn't play the most entertaining of rugby but they played to their strengths and won. If your forwards and kicking are your strength then why go for an open game if it will just cause you to lose, the opposition know what you will do so it is up to them to counter you. However, to be fair to them, I think they scored more tries than they conceded and if teams are going to give away penalties half the time you get near their tryline(Wales conceded a rediculous amount :/ ) and you have a kicker as good as Wilkinson then you can't blame them for kicking instead of kicking for the corner.
I agree that it isn't the best advertisment for rugby though.

Re: Second half, Dodgy ref, shouldn't have been a penalty just then
England were forced to play kicking rugby because everyone who played us tried to limit the effect our forwards had on the game.
Only one dropgoal in the final doesn't seem like a kicking game to me; remember, when the opposition break the rules, they should be penalised; what if their infringements would have brought a try?
The fact is that, in all positions, England were at least a match for all other teams, something that was recognised by the opposition coaches, who I think may be more experienced rugby commentators than you fellows.
