Payment SMS
WOuldnt it be a good idea to make payment possible trough a SMS with a mobilephone (or whatever its called in english..
Some other online games do that to and It is a really easy way to pay for members who dont have a creditcard.. and with an SMS it doenst look that "unsafe" (using CC over the internet) or "expensive for a game" then when u have to get a CC to pay.. and kiddies can pay 2..
Just make it able to SMS some nr that costs a bit of extra money with ur coords or usernumber or whatever... and voila..??

if you can find a broker that does it, but doesn't charge the earth in commission i'd imagine jolt will be interested. however, i'm not convinced such a thing exists.

Re: Payment SMS
said games/porn sites probably have a big enough turnover to impliment their own systems, or at least get lower rates from resellers. as i said, point to one that pa can use and i'd imagine people will be interested. however, i don't think this is the first time this has been suggested...

Re: Payment SMS
well im going 2 bed now.. I just wanted to add 1 thing:
Ringtone sites also have it, and I dont think they make really big bucks.. (if they do then PA should become a ringtone site jk)
so I dont think they need to make alot of cash to make this work.. and if so.. it can be calced into the price.. but I doubt thats necessary..
and well the CC system just sux.. only peeps who are really tottally tottaly into this kinda games would use CC's... I dont have a CC and if I would have 1 I wouldnt use it on the internet.. and it costs me a hellot of trouble to get my account upgraded every round.. and I dont think that motivates ppl (to play or pay) if the only other option is gettin a free (sucky) account..
This idea may not be perfect.. but its alot better then that CC system

Re: Payment SMS
As mist suggested we have looked into some of these systems but the amounts involved generally dont make it financially viable for us.

Re: Payment SMS
Well if I remember correctly payed accounts used to be sms'ed automaticly when they were under attack if you payed a tiny bit more or something like that, so paying shouldn't be to much more difficult I'd imagine.

Re: Payment SMS
A nice idea and can i get some ships donwloaded on to my phone
Wouldnt mind having a dragon as my screensaver sad i know but i think pictures on mobile phones are all ghey anyways so i wanna pay for a dragon on my mobile phone.
Then we could also create a world of pa on mobiles were we build ships on your mobile and text your ships on an attack to someone elses
Damn thats a god damn awful idea just ignore me
But anyways paying for PA by mobile is a very good idea.

PA has never had that feature, they did have it lined up to be introduced in round 3 but after pressure from these forums it was dropped

Yes there might be a million and one SMS processors but finding one who offeres the service they need, is trustworthy, is relaible and is cheap is no mean feat.
And with the game like it is its not as if SMS processors wll be tripping overthemselves to supply PA with the service at a good rate. Back in r2 and r3 when they were looking to introduce incoming alerts there was comapies who would give their left arm for the contract as the game was threiving, had large number of players that was increasing daily and would have made PA and the processing company a fair bit through the purchase of SMS alerts BUT today we have a limited number of players which makes the number of potential users of this system less and this uncertainlty over number of orders will make it hard for a resonable rate to be agreeed. For such a system to be introduced I personally see them being forced to increase the costs of a credit to cover it which no-one is going to like
Its a simerlar reason why officially theres no way to pay via things like paypal, its just not cost effective

Re: Payment SMS
The lack of a paypal payment option is apalling - I know as well as you that paypal payments can be reversed but its preventable for a company like Jolt with a background who are clearly not gonna be ripping off customers.
I know people in many countries struggle to upgrade their account because they can't pay (eastern europe anyone??)

Re: Payment SMS
We've had this discussion before havent we?
I just think its a terrible situation at the moment, with regards to payment options. If you do not have a credit card then kindly feck off. Lets not not forget also, the people who DO have CC but refuse to use it on the net. I know we have buddy packs i.e buy 3 or 5 pack etc... but someome please for the love of god, tell me how than helps a newcommer to this community?
By allowing ONLY credit cards, you have alienated millions of prospect customers who use alternate payment methods. I have covered this in another thread somewhere, so I'm not going threough it all again. I just pray someone, some fecking where, is proactive in this matter.
I'm not knocking anyone or trying to piss anyone off here....certainly not. But ffs someone waken up!!
/me ends his first rant...boy that felt good....should I do more?

There are already some of us in pateam who do paypal payments, im one of them and have had a few people pay this way.
People send £5 to us via paypal, we buy the credits on our cc's, and upgrade the person.

Re: Payment SMS
Jolt accepts:
VISA/ VISA Electron
Mastercard
Delta
Switch/ Maestro/ Solo cards
Solo cards are available from Natwest from age 14 and from HSBC from 16. (UK)
Some of PaTeam; myself, Phil^ (and I believe A2) accept PayPal payments.
I have to agree. Yes there should be more ways of paying, but at the moment we are making do with what we have. There have been lengthy discussions on the subject of increasing payment methods – the most cost effective one possible. I cannot for love nor money remember the one that was suggested…goes on search.

Paypal charge roughly 3% and you can integrate it into the site for instant credit allocation.
Hell I'll code it myself if you like.

Re: Payment SMS
there's a difference between some unpaid volunteers offering to take your money assuming you know about the and then give you a credit, and a paypal option on the official pa payments page.
and yes, this debate has already happened.

They accept Solo, used it a few times now.
The good thing about Solo is that you can get one from age 14 (UK) and upwards. If the offer is still on from NatWest; sign up and get a student railcard.

Ok, how many students have went too the Natwest and got a Solo Card to pay for Planetarion? Anyone.....?
I certainly wouldnt and dont know any that would......but thats just me...I must be different
Thank god I live in the UK eh? At Least its possible. What about the rest of europe, which was nearly equal in numbers at one point to the UK number of players? Have we lost all our american players...or dont we want them anymore? I know lets keep it UK only players, everyone else is discriminating, why dont we? Feck the rest of the world!! When can I join this British only political party? who doesnt want to make money from outside of the UK (business head) and who doesnt want a worldwide community (Gamers Head) (Joking, but I hope you get my points)

As I said, we are making the best out of the options we have at the moment.
I hope more options will come along, but as for the moment I am mentioning the ways possible.
I have no idea what cards are in europe? Solo?
If there is Solo in Europe then HSBC (+16) would offer them.

Blixxard, forgive me if I miss understand the meaning off "Ahh well"
But that wasnt exactly the responce I was hoping for.
I'm sure I speak for everyone, the community, jolt and I'm sure yourself when I say we all would like the community too grow. If this is the case then WHY TO FECK ISNT SOMONE ADDRESSING WHAT NEEEDS TO BE DONE!
I'm sorry but I have pointed out what I and I'm sure you would agree is a problem which is without doubt restraining this gaming community from ever growing and an "ahh well" responce sounds quite defeatist, kind of like "well, thats the way it is attitude" We all agree we have a problem with payment options so lets NOT just sit back and accept but do something about it and fecking fix it! I pointed this out in previous rounds after jolt took over, so this isnt just an immediatel relasisation of a problem but a know and longtime excisting one.

Again with the cards I will not use my card online. I want to pay anothjer way...HELP ME PLEASE!
Ok, incase I'm stupid on this matter and if you wouldnt mind, can you answer just two things.
1. Why do jolt not accept paypal?
2. Why do jolt not accept Nochex?
Just these two easy ones, and I'll not continue with the other 20 methods of payment. I know the charges for each transaction for Credit cards and the charges for paypal and nochex...so that can not be the reason.

Nearly equal? I'm quite surprised you seem to think UK is a superproportional part of the player base at all. I have played about 8 rounds now and i met more scandinavian, dutch and probably also american players than british for sure (not even counting germans as i am german myself and it screws the probability ofc).
The first thing that struck me with the Pay By SMS idea was how they would make it available internationally.

Re: Payment SMS
Some1 mentioned about peeps having to pay more maybe for this option? well its better then not having this option at all... its not like its a ripoff.. peeps can chose themselfs if its worth it or not right?
And about that international stuff... Well if u can pay in like a few big countries like germany and sweden or something.. then this wouldnt be a problem right.. the rest just uses country codes.. +31 or something.. it isnt perfect, but nothing else is either..
Peeps also just sms to other countries to warn them about Incomings.. and they dont mind doing smsing 2 a different country..

The question is not if you can send the sms, but how they will get that money from you, as they'd have to relay it to your phone provider to collect the money with your phone bill. I'm not sure this works with any and all phone providers. And also the cost would be very different for each country probably.
