Crash
Now last night I met up with a friend, we had a beer or two and we decided that we should go and see a film. Nothing really out of the ordinary, but normally I know what films are out etc. Now films are noturiously bad in the summer months so I was willing to see something shit like "Perfect Catch" or "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", however when I got there, the film Crash was playing. Now I didnt hear anything about it, I had no idea who was in it, I had no idea what it was about.
But when the film finished I thought it was one of the best films I had seen all year and this is no exageration. Theres nothing that cliche about it, its just a decent film. I would recommend as many of you to go and see it, and just enjoy something for 2 hours. You are constantly captured byt the film and you dont want to avert your attention (normally for me theres a 10 minute period which I feel they could leave out, but not in this film)
Anyway GD go forth and enjoy this film*
*to those that have seen it what do you thin?

Re: Crash
Basically the way peoples lives cross over, but they never really realise. Its also about the way people portray there anger through hate, thinking that its sorting things (eg racisim) that makes them angry. When in reality its bottled anger which is being directed through anger.
But the main plot is the way our lives criss cross overs without realsing at all...its good.

Well, they changed that a bit. When they first told me they were doing it they said it would be a true story about my life and loves. Cant trust anyone nowadays.

Re: Crash
im not against seeing it, but ive seen a few reviewers call it incredibly cliched and pretentious, which given the subject matter is quite likely.

I dont know, there wasnt really a moment in it where I could predict it, yes of course there are certain cliche moments, but to be honest its hollywood what do you expect. I think with a film like this you need to see it, hell its only going to cost you £4, and can at least allow you to relax for a couple of hours.

Re: Crash
I saw an advert for it on TV, but it was just a load of reviews saying how great the film was - and with no information about what the film was about, which didn't exactly make me want to go and watch it..

Re: Crash
yes, it was pretty good. a movie about racism that is not annoying you with the usual 'look here, this is how it is supposed to be'

Re: Crash
I heard it's good, but so much more could have been done with it. Supposedly it gets repetitious and lacks creativity in the latter half of the film. I'll still go and see it though.

Re: Crash
I liked it except for the part where the DA is a twat. The theme seems to be that every group is racist and that everyone is the victim of racism. It has some nice plot twists. The title comes from a car accident.
The nice thing is that they don't try to "solve" racism or beat you over the head with the obvious, that racism is probably not a good thing.

Re: Crash
Wasn't there a film called Crash brought out mid-90s about people who 'get off' erotically around carcrash scenes? That was a very IOnlyWatchFilmsLikeThisBecauseImMentallyDisturbed kinda film.

Re: Crash
I watched the film today and thought it was great.
The best way I can think of to describe it is that it does what American History X tried to do but does it a hell of a lot better.

Re: Crash
I saw it on the aeroplane on the way home and I thought it was pretty top drawer. It's fairly formulaic but the acting is solid enough to let them get away with it.

I predicted most of it to be honest. Doesn't take anything away from the film though.
good acting and really well directed.

Re: Crash
I saw it last night. It was OK. There was some good moments but mostly it was a bit overblown and contrived. Worth seeing I suppose, but it's not as good as it's hyped to be.
edit : The bit with the "bullet broof sheild" and the Latino girl made me laugh out loud.

I laughed when there were people who covered their faces/started to cry when the little Latino girl got shot.
People's expressions make me laugh.

I laughed quite a bit throughout the movie, five or six times. Not a single other person in the audience laughed at all though (even the people I was with) so maybe they just didn't think the movie was as funny as I did.

That's the point though. People should be able to say as many racially motivated things as they like, it's a free country. Whether or not they actually are racist should be decided by their actions.

Re: Crash
Crash is a really screwed up movie... oh wait you are talking about that Crash not David Cronenberg's Crash. Well if you ever see David's crash make sure you watch the uncut version. You'll feel all messed up afterwards.
