Background

I, as many people might know, have been a PA regular and professional #planetarion chatter for many years (well atleast 1 year ), and I have been able to discuss and chat in there within staying in the rules. Granted, it was risque at some points, but it was always in side the rules.

Today, the rules changed

As a long running joke between my self and Blixxard, and also invovling other people, I constantly suggested that his IRC nick is sharing the same name as what an "Adult" actor(ess) could be called, and apparently, the oppers have now lost all sense of humour.......

In my defence

Anyone reading that log should reliase that the whole situation is a joke, with reference to the joke between myself and blixxard. Also they should reliase that a warning should have been given first, eg a PM from the Ops, in this case A2, saying that can you stop talking about it and move on to something else. However this didnt happen. I then Pm'd blixxard about it, and I asked him, and he did, to paste the following in the channel, so A2 could read it

Dear A2, and all other people currently in #planetarion. As you are aware i was just kicked/banned for having a joke about porn. Not hardcore porn, not softcore porn, not animal porn and certainly not furniture porn. However, there are other people who spam links every day about porn. Hardcore porn. The really dodgy stuff which even Im scared to download. The only reason they get kick-banned is because they repeat it, so Pea does it that way. Tbh, the ops need to find out where the line of a joke is and actually do there job and stop people who are spamming virus links with porn invovled

Conclusion

I know this will probably get flamed for "stop whining", and if you are going to do so, please refrain, as it is really lame, and probably get flamed back. I could have quite easily evaded the ban set on me, but I didnt. There are a million and one things I could have done which would have violated the rule book, but I didnt. The Op's in #planetarion need to get real with what there supposed to be doing - eg "supervising" the channel, which means banning the right people, and not the people who are just there to chat and have a laugh with friends. With all this going on, its no wonder that people are getting peed off with the commuinty organisation as a whole and leaving the game.

Might I also add that blixxard, on my behalf tried to get in contact with A2, but to no avail, yet he was active in #beta

2 - you know full well that posting porn links isn't permitted, if you don't I suggest you consult the channel rules which can be found on the helpdesk forum.

You mention some examples where Pea took action before an op.
In most of these cases the person joins the channel, spams 3 lines in very rapid succession, at which point the anti-repeating part of the bot kicks in and bans the person. It's nothing to do with the ops being lazy or not caring about it, it's just very difficult to type in an entire ban message before they've said it 3 times and are gone anyway. Some of the time these things do happen when no-one is around. Normally however, although you don't notice anything different in channel the ban has been extended behind the scenes, rendering the "40 minutes" part inaccurate.

The channel rules can be compaired to those of police state. Applies to everyone but the ones at the top it doesn't. I am sick to death of it. Channel has down hill.

Upon checking the channel rules, there is nothing of that nature. The closest thing which comes to it is rule 2.3

How do you define this? I then thought, OK they will then use the Network rules to prove there point.

Now reading back at the logs, I was neither trading or requesting it - I was in fact having a joke.

Indeed this might be the case, but there have been instances where bans have been removed, then added on more time again as a further punishment - why didnt this happen in the two cases I have discussed?

In this case you linked to porn (which is a form of trading) which is unsuitable regardless for the channel you were in. Normally we don't mind links that fit in with the conversation unless they contain a virus, lead to porn or advertise a clone.

OK then, here are some points

Rule 2.3 - How do you define such language? Surely if its widespread, anyone who uses the word Fap should be banned?

Also, if you follow your own procedures of "discipline", firstly you should warn then kick, then kick ban, as that is what is stated on NG website

If you are caught breaking the network rules, or behaving inappropriately, you will be dealt with. Also, if you think someone is behaving badly and an oper agrees they will be dealt with. In either case the problem will be dealt with:

* Warning – The offender will be warned and asked to stop breaking the rules

then goes on to kill, g-line etc

But warning does not mean kick-ban does it?

I've been banned from #planetarion when I've done things I didn't realise were "naughty". I either waited out the ban (#planetarion is hardly the most happening place in the world), or I PMed an op and apologised, and explained I didn't mean to cause offence. I was unbanned pretty quickly usually, as they're quite understand people.
