Tag score
Adding players to tag in the end of the round has become a more viable tactic with smaller tags, just to gain score.
Why not change total tag score to score gained while in tag?

Or alternatively ban new admissions in the last few days or last week.

Well then they would just join before that limit comes around.
I think that doing it how i suggest would also remove the possibility of "hiding tag count" in the beginning aswell

Re: Tag score
Yes in general I agree yours is the better way, I was just pointing out the alternative, for the sake of having a choice!

Re: Tag score
1) Out of tag planets get shitty defense, so such a punishment is already in place.
2) A fairly small amount of score will be gained by such late joins, because tags don't gain the full score, but only the difference between the joining planet's score and the tag's currently smallest counting planet's score.
3) Chimpie went through the effort to actually check if this could happen. Turns out, no. All the planets large enough to make a significant difference are already spoken for.
[edit] Wait, there may still be one!

So he gave them the coy little wave and realized it probably would have been more effective if he hadn't been lying on their turkey.

FL won a round in the past by sending out random mails for people to join em.
If its true that Ultores got a top50 planet left to join the tag, its a lot of score

Well you said you wouldve won regardless, it dosnt change the truth that you sent out mails to random tagless people to have em join you.

You're ignoring the very simple point that having a planet out of tag is already a disadvantage.

Not really, even without the way XP works now getting a top 100 planet playing simtarion isn't that hard. You just have to have a bit of luck getting in to the right galaxy and flying under the radar long enough.

Re: Tag score
I see having planet out of tag as a possible strategy within the game, it has pros and cons both for the player and the alliance. I don't like the idea of removing it.

I didn't say it was hard. I said it was hard er. Playing without alliance defense is harder than playing with alliance defense.
