Serenity is a pretty good film, although not particularly lifechanging.
the problem with writing descriptive subject lines is that they dont leave you with much to say in the actual thread

Shame they couldn't have made a success of the TV series it was based on, tho.

Re: Serenity is a pretty good film, although not particularly lifechanging.
I've never seen the TV series so I probably got less from the film than those who had. All the hype from the fans made it sound like it was going to be the best film evereverever, when it fact it was a fairly generic starwars clone (albeit a good one).
Its made me want to watch the series though.
edit: there were 5 people in the cinema including me, so I dont think the film is going to be successful either.

I like how the film was advertised as being by the creator of Buffy and Angel; no Firefly in sight.

I've recently "acquired" the tv series (on the strength of GD praise) but haven't found time to watch it yet

so what films are considered worthy of such high praise as being life changing? Has anyone here had their life changed by a film?

Wallace and Grommit in the Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

I went to watch lord of the war while rip-roaring drunk yesterday. I'm not too sure if you were supposed to laugh as much as we did considering some of the nasty looks we got but that film was downright brilliant and I'd advise going to see it assuming you're not some sort of over-analytical prat searching for the meta-theme constantly. Bottom line, selling arms to black men is cool and you know it.

I went to see it with Skiddy on monday and we were quite impressed. If it had a better main actor it would have been even better. (Stu said it was the best opening sequence to a film. ever)

Re: Serenity is a pretty good film, although not particularly lifechanging.
Any film which acknowledges the inherent greatness of the Soviet Union can't go far wrong. I like Nicolas Cage though. He delivers his lines with something approaching panache but far short of pretentiousness.
PS I actually hadn't read horn's thread about gattaca until after I made that post MM. How amusing.
