I appear to have accumulated
£13.04 in Bronze (1 and 2p's)
£38 (roughly) in 5p's
£4 in 10p's
£6.40p in 20p's
Over the course of the last 12 months just stacking up my change.
Scary.

Re: I appear to have accumulated
I normally chuck all my loose change into a tub and the last few times i've cashed it up it's been over £50. That's normally in a 8-12 month period as well.

Re: I appear to have accumulated
You know those giant whiskey bottles that they have in pubs? I've got a Bells one that I put bronze in, it's about half full, and I have a vodka bottle that I put 5p's in, I cashed that up a couple of months ago and got £50 out of it.
10's go quick, cause they go in the snooker lights dontcha know.

Re: I appear to have accumulated
Heh, my task for tomorrow was to count up my coppers and cash them in! I'll keep you informed.

Re: I appear to have accumulated
I have so much bronze the pile of it is actually making the shelf it's on bend in the middle.
Ok it's the cheapest shelf money could buy from B&Q, but still.
Will count it sometime.

Re: I appear to have accumulated
FFS just keep the change in your wallet and spent it once you can manage.
Or when you fill up your car, take as much petrol as you need to loose your change!
BTW, in Europe (or at least in Germany) there seems to be NOT ENOUGH COINS (seen it on the news the other day). And then people like you are collecting them... pffffff

Re: I appear to have accumulated
Not spending coppers regularly is the only form of saving I manage to do.
When I have no money before pay-day, I'll generally count them up and buy some cheap food.

You know, I try so hard to stash spare change, but I never get over about £3. :/

Re: I appear to have accumulated
The old 'whisky bottle' of change is a winner, as it's too much effort to grab the 10 and 20p coins you might need. We'd usually get £40 or £50 a year in loose change, then go for a damn good curry, night out and taxi home (+£100).

Yes, the lights on the snooker tables in the local mens clubs take ten pence pieces for about 12 minutes of light.

Re: I appear to have accumulated
You what? What a total rip!
Jesus, get to a decent pool club.
Back to the subject at hand: yeah my housemate at uni had a big old champaign bottle with most 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s in. Some 20s and 50s and the occasional quid. He emptied it the day before we left.
£72. Git.

It's usually how they charge for snooker in pubs.
My snooker club is only £2.50 an hour during the day
