No-one's entirely sure of the origin as far as I know, one of the main theories is that it derives from the gospel according to Matthew...

An anoying gimmick or the anoyed peoples responses.
Getting upset over something so trivial should be nominated to 'something'. Espesially since it's anger directed against a combiantion of pixles viewd on a screen.

Actually, it's not just that. In most cases people also fail to recognize an obvious gimmick for what it is even if other posters tell them about it several times.

I still have some 'GIMMICK ACCOUNT' threads saved to disk somewhere and I weep for humanity every time I skim through them.
