Some changes

Okay I wanted to put forward a few changes to make the game more lively things some are big some are small.

1, Drop the cost to initiate roids

Argument For:- Cutting the cost to initiate all roids up to say 500 would a, put more roids in the universe. b, allow people to recover faster after being roided, c, make life easier for new players and scanners who wont have to spend as much to get a decent amount of income.


2, Increase the amount of resources at Core mining produces. I would suggest doubling all the current amounts.

Arguments For:- a, Will give a nice boost to those smaller players who cant keep hold of a massive amount of roids. b, Will give all players more resources to work with. c, Might change the order of research people go for.

3, Change Governments.

Arguments For:- Making some decent large changes to governments every few rounds will keep people on their toes. And i am sure there are more things that can be done with them than currently. For example a government that gives a discount on scans, or a government that gives an additional ETA advantage. Or a Government that Halves the Cost of Constuctions.

Arguments Against:- It would require more balancing in testing, and would confuse newer or less active players as yet another thing that changes every round.

4, Bring back ..... (fill in applicable here)

Bring back PDS, cargoships, Military scans. Doesnt have to be for every round just bring them back for a round or two so we can have more of a challange playing PA.

5, Multiple planets.

As mentioned here :- http://pirate.planetarion.com/showth...95#post3210495 Consider a change to PA to allow everybody to have 2 or more planets to give us more targets in the universe.

6, ShipsStats

Why not have a round where every race has a steal ship, a cloaked ship and a emp ship. Just to change things around and make life more intresting. Every race having the ability to steal, send 0 size defense or EMP atleast 1 class of ships could really give us a fun round. Consider something like

Ter 6 normal 1 cloaked 1 emp 1 steal
Cath 6 emp 1 clocked 1 steal 1 normal
etd 2 emp 2 cloaked 2 steal 2 normal

Arguments For: Will change the consistent nature of PA and give everybody more choices. Can just be for 1 round no need to make it a permanent thing.

Arguments against: Will make stats harder to balance


These are a few of my ideas I am sure other people can suggest more.

3. would need testing
4. A bit of variety wouldn't do any harm but make sure there is suffient safeguards against cheating I would dread to think what the likes of Alki could do with cargoships (considering he got closed for multi-ing the other day)
5. Needs testing / tweaking and MH would need to update their procedures to accomomidate this (if there is another xmas round this year might be a good time to test it...I would like to thank appoco/PA team and the community in pressing for the galaxy adaption of the ally def page or close enough that first appeared in that xmas round)
6. worth looking at but personally I wouldnt want to much variation from the status quo.

most have been discussed many times. the one i think could have the biggest impact and possibly not too hard to add to the game is cheaper roids. maybe make the cost of initing from 0 to 500 much cheaper and the cost of initing any roids over 500 alot more expensive?

I could see a great deal of benefit for the first 2 suggestions. Not so much to bring in new players, but to at least keep what few people we do have. We lose so many players because they get tired of getting hammered to death and not being able to recover. It always seems like the majority of the roids in the universe are held by the top players who have at some point picked on someone much smaller than themselves for easy roids, but the little guys cant even hope to attempt hitting the bigger guys to get roids, so once they get beat down, they cant rebuild because they cant fund any kind of rebuilding efforts and most end up quitting. The pa universe has gotten small enough as it is, lets at least try and keep people around. As for allowing multiple planets, I think it would have to be limited and strictly monitored. I would say a limit of 2 planets per email address, 4 planets per IP (to allow for multiple players from the same location). And strictly forbidding any kind of interaction between the planets owned by the same person or from the same location (which iirc is pretty much how the exception system works now as it is).

6. Maybe, open to shaking things up, but balance is important.

One of my own:

Alliance Roid Pool: Allies can pool roids that mine for alliance fund, current restrictions on donations apply. A new dedicated fleet slot could be given to send ships (say eta5) to alliance pool then have them idle until recalled, etc (eta 5 return). Allies could strike at each other's pool in addition to routine raids.

you have to think about poor multihunters with this sentence as well mate.. who could ever close that many ND planets then?

Some people say if it aint broke why fix it.
Every round things change why?

So maybe bring back the travel cost (eonium).
Maybe bring back the scan for uninitiated roids,
So people can manage the roids they like (more eonium roids for travel).
And scan for roids just before the attack lands so attackers get uninitiated and normal roids.

Wel overall bring back the funn in the game.
And dont change it again and again so someone can write a how to.

You could say it isnt broke but it isnt fixed either. A change that benefits everybody can only be for the good.

Reducing the cost of the first 500 roids and upping the income from core research will benefit everybody but more so those who do get roided alot. Which can happen to alot of people.
