Re: Oh Brother Where Art Thou?
Saw it a couple of times on flights, always thought it was superb. Even watched it twice in a row on one transatlantic gig.
Got the DVD and watched it at home...wasn't quite as good. Maybe it needs the sound of engines and/or fat bloke in seat across the aisle snoring to make ideal watching conditions.

Re: Oh Brother Where Art Thou?
The title is 'Man of Constant Sorrow'
I heard it on the radio once, different from the movie version and not as good. Go for the movie soundtrack.

My mom has the soundtrack, and it's on there as by 'The Soggy Bottom Boys'. I forget if that's the actual name of the band that sings it, I think it is tho. They were on Jay Leno once.

I thought it was set in 1937 (due to the prison time reference ie when they would get out after serving a 50 year term).

Re: Oh Brother Where Art Thou?
'20s depression' would've been about 4 months. And lots of people had radios back then.*

Re: Oh Brother Where Art Thou?
It was mildly amusing, and I liked all the references to the Odyssey.

Thanks
Even though I had to get about 6 different versions before I could find one that didn't have scrambled bits in it.

"where art thou" is just the familiar form (now archaic) of the English "where are you".

Re: Oh Brother Where Art Thou?
I figure it was pedantic because It was giving the impression that everything that i do must have a reason, a purpuose, and I expect nothing but the most brain teasing and clever things ever, Or my Huge brain power will rest unused, and me, bored.
I like to be picked at!
