[football] the big league rnd 5
It starts again on saturday and runs to the end of the season. Not everyone has claimed their place but we will have 20 confirmed players by saturday.
SCORING
Quote:
I put the following letters by your results to indicate where I've awarded points...
G = 1 point = generally right : final score accurate as far as home/away
A = 2 points = almost right- correct home goals in a home win prediction
- correct away goals in an away win prediction
- any non-exact draw in a draw prediction
- correct goal difference (has to be generally right too)
X = 3 points = exactly right... obviously the exact score
and 1 point each for- H = correct half-time
- S = scorer
- T = Time (+-4 minutes)
- Y = Yellow card* (and R=Red card for 2 pts)
|
IMPORTANT - new option!
*You can either name first scorer + time as usual or you can name someone you think will be booked.
If that person gets a yellow card, you get 1 point. If he gets a red, you score 2.
I'll assume any name without a time next to it is intended as a booking prediction.
Livescore.com is the deciding info source for scorers, times, bookings, etc.
Anyone who misses a prediction gets a 0-3 defeat. If a non-predictor is your opponent, you get a win if you score any points, and a draw if you score 0.
One other change : in the last league, random wasn't truely random. I moved players around a lot to avoid them having the same team too often or playing the same opponent. It was a pain. This time it will be random regardless of repetition. (I'll use the random number generator at random.org)

You also need to say what you think the half time score will be, home lead, away lead or draw.

i doubt many people will ever predict the first scorer again then; it's far easier to predict someone to get booked. 2 points for a red card stimulates even more to predict this.

well i was thinking about this only people that will really do well out of this is people predicting blackburn (robbie savage, dickov and bellamy) If I was going to do it for villa I would most likely say ridgewell he gives too many penalties away, baros diving and hendrie is a bit dirty (but he doesnt play much) when thinking about teams in general its difficult to think of yellow card prone players I guess I could look at stats or summet...essien for chelsea is another easy points.

Essien has only got 4 yellow cards in the league this season.
As a comparison, C. Ronaldo has got 7, Sissoko has 7 and a red and Lee Bowyer has got 1 and a red, and 21 games of the season have gone.
The points aren't as free as they might appear.

+-4 I think would be better than both a 10 minute range (too wide) and a 6 minute range (too narrow).

Um, you're calling a draw at half-time but someone to score in the 23rd minute - and a clean sheet for Charlton makes that impossible. Oh, and no-one called 'John' plays for Charlton or Birmingham City

good call with "John" but the other 'mistake' is allowed. We agreed long ago that predictions don't have to be physically possible.

I'm glad I got the chance to mention that little known rule as many might not be aware of it.
btw as he is your opponent, the smart thing to do would be to keep quiet and let him continue with a reduced chance of scoring points
