massive amount of money and time required to stop it, and the complete destruction of the Iraqi economy. Oil is how Iraq makes money, and without those oil fields their people would starve for months without an "adopt an Iraqi" program of some sort. No oil = no jobs = no money = no food.

Oh and environmental reasons coupled with the fact that the destruction of those fields would cause worldwide economic collapse. (Russia's economy alone would crumble with little hope of halting it)
