R21 start date
Quote:
Signups for Round 21 will open on Wednesday, 28th March, and ticks will provisonally start on Friday, 6th April at 20:00 GMT.

Any chance to delay start date? We could use some more resting / relaxing.

Re: R21 start date
Given that the game will still be crap I'd recommend waiting for round 22 as the more interesting changes should be implemented by then. Take a 8 week break ladies.

Re: R21 start date
Isn't everyone usually complaining that the breaks are too long?
I did, admittedly, put provisional just in case :P
However, it'd be nice if we could start then as we'd fit in 5 rounds this year, including perhaps a free round.

I agree fairly much, but personally I don't think it's worth playing another crappy round. Population and Government sounds interesting but doesn't fix the fundamental issues; i.e. broken score, broken exile system, broken community aspect.

Yeha, you better have been beta testing for a few weeks now if the round start is that close.

I disagree.
It's one and shit same if they betatest or not, if the produced quality after ages of betatesting is what it was for last round.

We've updated the tick start date. It'll now be Friday 13th. We thought it would bring us some luck

Re: R21 start date
Start the round already.
After round ended I been sleeping longer and can hardly get out of bed in time to get to work at 12.00 :\
For me PA is a enticement to get me out of bed nice and early. check for incs etc. without PA I just roll over and fall asleep again after silencing all alarmclocks.
The longer it is until next round begins the more likely it is that i will be fired from my current job so get those ticks rolling please

Most people don't play havoc though. Most people I know haven't even logged in during havoc.

Re: R21 start date
The delay is to avoid a clash with easter when quite a lot of people go on holiday or do things with family. The *plan* for this year is to have 3 week gaps between end of round and start of new round ticks (not havoc is not included as being part of the round). Due to this delay if we are to stick to the plan it means at some pont one of the gaps will have to be as low as 2 weeks.
Now any number of things could change this plan - decision to change length of rounds, major holidays being in the way of things, etc.
But the intention this year is certainly to get a smuch playing time in as possible and avoid the historical very long gaps between rounds.

In the sense of inviting people to test yes, but there has been significant internal testing on the variety of servers we have. The beta has been used almost purely for stats testing rather than bug locating.

Re: R21 start date
And ironically, the beta has, throughout times, been found a bad way of testing statistics. You'd be better off with a cubic prediction scheme.

Appoco made one of the better stats sets of recent rounds (r14). I still think r13 stats were better (with some slight improvement to Cath, of course ), but we could do a lot worse than r14 stats.

terrans were also slightly underpowered in round 13 iirc Rob, I didn't like the stats as Ziks and Xans dominated, Caths all died and there were no Terrs doing well.

So I guess in usual fashion, the ship stats will be available the day ticks start.

I'm not sure if you didn't get it or if I didn't, but a cubic prediction scheme is definately not going to contribute the slightest.
And yeah, probably the day the ticks start. With good luck, there'll be changes during protection.
