100 Scariest Moments
Did anyone see this on Ch4?
I was surprised by the wisdom of the choices people had evidently made. People usually use these sort of things as a kind of opportunity for an exhibition of their idiocy.

Re: 100 Scariest Moments
I noitced that myself. The top 5 I pretty much agreed with although I would have put Alien as my no 1.
I was amused to see the 'Judda Man (sorry for spelling) in there though. My wife hated that

Re: 100 Scariest Moments
While the top 10 wasnt too bad the rest of the list was pretty shocking, for example things like Sixth Sense and Final destination being included is just plain wrong. These movies are supernatural thrillers not scary movies and are a completly differnt kind of movie. While a scary movie is designed to be chilling and scare you, a supernatural thriller doesnt want to scare you but instead build up a level of suspense and tension.
Oh and WHOEVER voted for a moments in Soaps (Brookside - body under patio, Easterender - trevor and little mo and corrie - Richard the killer) really need their head checking. Soaps arent bloody scary ffs

Re: 100 Scariest Moments
Relative to most other lists of this type, it was surprisingly life-affirming.
14 year old's are never going to be banned from voting in these things, so we'll have to put with things like Final Destination and their ilk.
btw, it was 100 scariest moments, technically, which could potentially include just about anything, regardless of genre.

I'll cd it for you at the weekend.
ps.
It was a stupid title, as films like The Thing or Alien should have both been in there several times if we're restricting ourselves to moments.

I assume they had X thousand people saying various moments from a set film, thought '**** this' and they bunched them all together and called it 'Alien at no. 7' or whatever.
P.S, Am I the only person in the world who thinks Scream is a big pile of monkey poo?

No.
I personally was surprised to not see The Godfather (or at least the most famous scene from it) in there; I mean, Goodfellas was in there, The Wizard of ****ing Oz was in there (as opposed to the infinitely more sinister Return to Oz), why not The Godfather?

I am totally baffled as to why such a mediocre series of films should be given the status that they seemingly have been. They fail on just about every level I can think of.

I'm surprised that The Japanese version of the ring was included, as opposed to the American one, which, incidentally, is much more inferior.

Re: 100 Scariest Moments
i watched a few here and there over both the shows
couldnt sit and watch it though
i am a serious wimp
(picture scene:
cinema full of small children and parents
me and friend watching the kiddies movie harry potter
i am the ONLY one in the whole place to scream at the scary bits)
there was a fair old mix in there
think it pretty much depended on what age the person was when they watched the scary moment they voted for
watching something aged 6 that made you wet your pants is going to have more of an effect that something that didnt really scare you much aged 30

Re: 100 Scariest Moments
Well, it's interpreting 'scary' a bit broadly, and some of the moments are wrong even if the source is right, but it could be worse.
Imo the scene from LotR where bilbo turns monstrous for a second should be in there though, thats about the only thing to make me jump recently. (yes, its the old 'ian hom looks harmless but actually he's a monster' trick again).
28 days later had a few decent moments (the monkeys at the start, and the blood dripping from the bird's beak into whats-his-name's eye).

Are you like one of those 'bruiser' women that think that unless people are being hacked to death every few seconds then a film has no merit on any level?
My girlfriend is like that. No patience or appreciation for the finer points.

No, I like spooky atmospheric films I just don't think BWP was one of them. I seriously think the producer was sat laughing his ass off and no-one else got the joke.

I can't believe you can't say it was not atmospheric. The whole piece was stewed in it.
My own imagination is the most lethal mechanism I have for making me wet my pants. This is why BWP is so great. Not to mention that the whole thing was projected through the pseudo-reality of the video-camera.
This is why I hate Scream, etc. The psychology behind their methods is so pathetically weak and formulaic, there is no point about even thinking about being scared.

The scariest thing ever is clearly that BBC documentary 'Ghost Watch' or whatever it was called.
Everything else is just pish.
