I need a big favour here in work, and my basic Gog is far, far from adequate!!

Nope.

It's an indoeuro language, despite what you'd think. It looks nothing like English though. Dutch is closer to English than Welsh, as is French, German, Spanish... (probably)

Apart from borrowed words, it aint too similar. I'm not sure if Welsh is germanic-indoeuro or latin-indoeuro. Probably Germanic, if you look at it. Not give it much thought!!

Other than Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch I have forgotton more or less all the Welsh I learn Though I know quite a lot of Welsh speakers, not that it really helps you at all
