How did the alliances do in the beta then ?

Will this be followed up in the round to come?

Just provoking some discussion


Personally feel that this has strengthened the bonds of the alliances in the powerblocks but what do others feel?

this I think was more a reminder how pa works, after its absence for a while for members on our side, there was no dtrife for #1 gal more of a fun fix of pa .

and it was indeed fun. for us and our allies, I'm sure all the Sweet/Nar allies also had fun.

No alliances really done anything at all in the game today. My gal was top from after protection until very late tonight and we didnt bother with any alliance (we were in both rooms though).

There were around 70 people in the WoE room which is far more than VOM had playing (even with the spies in room)

I would not read anything into the alliances coming out on top of this at all, if any gal wanted to win this they could fairly easily.

For crying out loud if beta's were anything to go by Theamion would surely be the greatest player in Planetarion history, well more so

It is kinda sad And Theamion should be refered to as Farmer Theamion.

Im mainly playing to learn what works best for terrans, never played as terran before :/

well playing beta is fun for me too after this long nap.
i dont think its sad to play a game serious even if its beta testing.

i´m not saying that it means anything though or is reflecting what will happen in the upcomming round.

Yeah. I'm playing to 'get back in the swing' of things, as it were. LH still doesnt compare to 5-min tick beta PA, so I'm enjoying the chance to roid again for the first time in several months.

Little sleeping, lots of multying. Even I indulge in some cheating during test rounds although not seriously enough effort to bother anyone playing to win.

Mainly checking out if all is really the same as r8 (fairly much so) and if they have not ****ed up in some stats department like in r4 or r8 (but now I find I'm to lazy to check them properly).

Also trying to get members a bit of their PA view back after 3 months of SS.

Agreed, I managed to be forutnate to get a beta account, and it is more a show of power as apposed to any testing method, Both VoM and WoE are roiding everyone not in those blocks, and avoiding one another....maybe a sign for the oncoming round?

I dunno any reasons for any serious alliance to do more than some "testings". I wondered how many ppl mistook a free beta for a speedround and went over to personal insultings and stuff...

I crashed ships in networth of nearly 1.5 millions to test some things around the zikonian stealing/dying mechanisms. I looked for eventually bugs (found two) and tried everything possible one can do with the ships. What else is a beta for? Oh - and I had a great laugh at some ppl taking it far too serious
I see that there is some fun in a free kinda "speedround". But I fear that besides some 10-30 ppl no one is really "betatesting" this game...

PS: MelAn - I thought better of you. Thought you will someday somehow do something like some kind of "growing up"... *sigh*

i didnt play beta, i couldnt give a rats ass since this clearly was a boring 'semi-speed round' with ticks slow enough to get bored and fast enough not to leave your pc.

I've played a bit of LH recently, also fun, R7 stats with weakened PDS.

However i hope they will do a second test with 30 second ticks or so, then I shalt play

Think you can hardly compare this beta, which was more of a fun break and a race-test then a test of strenght, to Round 9.
In contrary to VoM and maybe Woe, ToT took beta serious and saw it as a test of strenght and is 'winning' but its nothing more then a Jamaican bobsled team winning the national championship.

VoM and i think woe aswell used this beta to test different races to prepare better for the round like F1 teams testing their cars on test circuits to find the best settings for different circumstances.

But nevertheless i think it's sumthing ToT can be proud of.

This mainly because Eclipse had no real desire to play a beta in any sort of competative way. I gave the order (or rather 'guidance') myself for Eclipse members to 'test' in accordance to the spirit of beta, not play to any great length.

I seriously doubt VoM's organization in a beta is hardly valid for the round itself.
