US soldiers damage Babylon ruins
"U.S.-led troops using the ancient Iraqi city of Babylon as a base have damaged and contaminated artifacts dating back thousands of years"
"military vehicles crushed a 2,600-year-old brick pavement, and archaeological fragments, including broken bricks stamped by King Nebuchadnezzar II around the same time, were scattered across the site"
"The dragons at the Ishtar Gate were marred by cracks and gaps where someone tried to remove their decorative bricks"
"large quantities of sand mixed with archaeological fragments have been taken from the site to fill military sandbags."
I wonder why it's necessary for US military vehicles to drive right on top of the ruins

Re: US soldiers damage Babylon ruins
i agree.. for shits and giggles.. /me here, although directly representing the US military, can kinda adapt to the 'hatred' against americans, thats being sowed to the world and let it be harvested by generations after generations so the 'hatred' will be forever..
but then again, personally, i really dont give a fat, rat's ass.. i'm sure they took pictures of those artifacts before they ran them over

Let's tear down the Pyramids as well then, and put something new in their place. After 4500 years, we know what they look like, right?

i doubt very much they went in thinking 'wahoo ancient wonder of the world lets trash it'.
it was probably more a case of 'best tread carefully....oh shit i just stepped on a vase from 20million years ago'

The damage was mainly done by Polish soldiers so let's not blame those slack jawed, trigger happy, stupid, infidel Americans The Polish are due to make a statement explaining the damage soon. Seems a shame though though

Moral of the story: Don't let people who are generally of limited intelligence and who are trained to destroy for a living (i.e, soldiery.) near priceless works of ancient culture.
'Bull', 'China Shop', etc.

i doubt he meant 'nicer' in the sense of better social skills or eats with their mouth closed. i imagine he meant 'nicer' in the sense of more physically attractive, in which case this is something over which they have little control despite any clandestine desires you may percieve.

They're in the EU now (and Croatia soon will be)... Why would they want a British passport?
I didn't speak to many of them - but the ones I did meet there were friendly.
But yes - Yahwe is right, I meant in terms of attractiveness.

... from mine have drawn salt tears,
shamed their aspects with store of childish drops:
these eyes, which never shed remorseful tear -
when i first heard the news of mine own father's death
and the teller twenty times made pause to sob and weep,
that all the standers-by had wet their cheeks
like trees bedashed with rain - in that sad time
my manly eyes did scorn an humble tear;
and what these sorrows could not thence exhale,
thy beauty hath, and made them blind with weeping

What do you expect from a nation who has killed and waged wars since they arrived (starting with the native indians, then onto Mexico and Spain and so on) and doesnt even know their own history... the U.S must be destroyed!
