The Ethereal spacedocks (and hotels), Under Construction

[Runo]

"Good. Then all is well."

Runo finishes flapjack's drink, and slams it on the counter.

"Two more, AcidK!"

[flapjack]

Flapjack watches as Runo promptly begins to melt.

"Did you know acid volcano bombs are lethal to most humanoid lifeforms?"

[Runo]

"Really? Hmm... would you mind starting up the respawner?"

Runo melts

[flapjack]

Flapjack walks back to the transporter room where the massive respawner units hums quitely. For a few moments nothing happens, then Flapjack appears to realise something and drops to the floor as the respawner finally finishes, immediatly ejecting Runo at high speed towards the opposite wall, which had been covered with soft materials because of the respawner's tendency to throw people out, rather then just drop them out.

"Remember not to drink anything that's in a large uranium container and fizzles when you look at it."

[Runo]

Runo scratches his chin, produces his notebook and writes.

"NOT drink.... uranium ... *mumble* ... fizzles ... *mumble*... hmm"

He reads it over a couple of times.

"Ok then... "

[flapjack]

Flapjack stares at Runo's notebook, the thing almost qualified for prehistoric, before heading towards the bridge.

After a couple of hours and several long detours, Flapjack finds his way to the the bridge and sits in the captain's chair, the reports indicating the ship was finally finished and Flapjack intended to take the ship out.

"Helm, undock the ship, disconnect all support lines and take us out, 1/4th thrusters only."

After sitting in his chair for a couple of minutes, Flapjack realises that he doesn't quite have a pilot yet and thus gets into the pilot seat himself, a few quick taps on the buttons releasing the massive construct, which shudders slightly as a result. Another couple of taps later the thrusters active at 1/4th power and begin to slowly accelerate the ship out of the vast construct it is currently in.

[Runo]

Watching flapjack leave, Runo wonders if he should take the grand tour of the ship. At least he should locate the medic bay, and his private quarters. Walking towards the door, he notices a gaping hole in front of it. Stopping just inches from it, not wanting to engage in any form for exercise (jumping) he looks for another way out. Suddenly the entire ship starts to rumble. As the ship accelerates, Dr. Cornelius Runo looses his footing and falls with an universal inevitability down the hole. Finding himself on another deck, Runo realizes that he will probably spend most of his time in the bar. He returns.

[AcidK]

*AcidK watched as Runo arrived back at the bar as he finishes cleaning another glass for his drinks. He slowly turned around and picked up a random glass, the actual crystalis form looking perfect clean and spotless. To the trained eye, there was Myst Breaker in a few of the reams, making even a glass of water from this glass lethal to the drinker and everythign around them. AcidK sighed and began to use the anti-matter cloth and his kylithium-glove to clean the glass. Without looking when Runo arrives at the bar, AcidK speaks carefully.*

What'll it be?

[Runo]

Just as he is about to order, Runo seems to remember something. He gets out his notebook and looks through it while mumbling;
"Let's see... fire hot... oversized hats, NOT funny... intestines go on the inside... not drink.... ah, here we are!
Anything that's not in a large uranium container and fizzles when you look at it, please. On the rocks."

[AcidK]

*AcidK grins as he says this.*

Well... if you so wish...

*AcidK picks out a bottle from under the counter, the label of it corroded a long time ago, but the substance inside was blue and the glas had strangly survived. AcidK poured a shot of the substance, the colour changing to red and then yellow as he did so. He placed in a block of ice afterwords and watched carefully as it sank to the bottom. AcidK slided the drink forward to Runo.*

Emotion Blast, a non-toxic, non-deadly but yet highly amusing drink, first tested on the Dragon Hewitt during my first barman job within the Waypoint Inn.

Flapjack continues to carefully pilot the ship out of the construction yard

Runo looks at the drink.

Runo looks at the drink some more. Then he sips it. Then he sips it some more. Finally he empties the glass. Looking at AcidK, just knowing something horrible is going to happen to his body. But hey, what can you do? He was thirsty.

Flapjack finally brought the vast ship clear of the construction yard and switches on the primary drives and the navigational deflector.

"Please raise the shields, we're coming into an asteroid field."

[AcidK]

*AcidK watches Runo as a series of 'good' emotions are suddenly forced into Runo's mind. AcidK witnessed Runo go through love, then tastelessness and various other emotions for the next three hours.*

Mrmao still in the holo deck but unaware made his way to the armoury. He had to dispose of only four more gaurds on his way there. As he wnet through the main door he knew exactly what he was looking for, explosives. He found just what he was looking for, he quickly filled a bag with enoguh to finish his mission. befor he left he primed two of the remaing charges and attached them to a remote detanator. After the door closed and he moved down the hallway he triggered the charge, the armoury was destroyed in a explosin that blew the doors it to the bulck head acroos the corridor. He had a mission to continue.

Flapjack waits for Acidk to turn the shields on....

*The AcidK Clone was watching out of the veiwport from the bridge where is little 'office' was held, waiting for something in particular, calculating something by the looks of things.*

Raising sheilds to twenty-five point six percent, Mr. Flapjack, diverting all other energy into the main thrusters. If my calculations are correct...

*AcidK looked to a small holographic map of the asteroid feild and pointed at something.*

... This bit here will clear up in no less than ten seconds and be clear for twenty seconds. If the energy is in the thrusters, we can reach there at exactly ten seconds and pass through within exactly twenty seconds. The sheilds can hold off the asteroids within that time and recharge by the time we exit the clearing, by which time I can divert energy again to raise sheilds by 50% and still survive the feild. We will be shaving a good hour and multiple sheild energy crisis' this way.

*AcidK watched out the window as the asteroids began to bash into one another and began to open out a little.*

5 seconds until clearing reach...

[flapjack]

Flapjack prepared the drives for a high power burst, just 2 seconds before the clearing opened Flapjack slammed the drives into full power, the ship immediatly leaping forward as the burning hot plasma was shot out the back at aprox 1/3rd the speed of light.

Right as the last couple of roids left the Ethereal's path the ship lept through between the larger asteroids, smal asteroids and particles bouncing off the shields and several micro-asteroids being pushed out of the way by the deflector array.

As the Ethereal passed the first asteroid ring its quantum slipstream drive finished charging, Flapjack pushed the intercom button.

Intercom: "All passengers and crew please prepare for rapid translation as we leave normal space and enter slipstream, estimated time to arrival at Romulus is 1 hour and 44 minutes."

As soon as he finished, and shortly before smashing into the next set of asteroids, flapjack hit the combination to engage the slipstream, immediatly the ship was thrown into slipstream space and the black of space was almost instantly replaced by the blueish colour of a subspace tunnel

Ryon J'kar faded into the room from the living shadows of the corner that held him.

"Hey Flappy... I back."

Ryon J'kar faded into the room from the living shadows of the corner that held him.

"Hey Flappy... I back." His voice comes back without answer....

Looks in disgust as he is in fact in the bar and not the helm...

Flapjack taps the mic softly to check it's still working

"Hi Ryon, if I'm correct you've got the neccesary piloting licenses to fly this thing, so if you would be nice and come come up here."

Flapjack quickly enters Ryon's DNA scan into the targetting computer, so that it would let Ryon onto the bridge

[Ryon Jkar]

After several long delayed moments(to make time for Ryon's journey up to the bridge) Ryon JKar's darkened fom enters through the metallic doors that lead to the bridge.

"Hello again... I've returned... from.. the ...... journey..."

Ryon's eyes shift from grey to black and back to grey.

[flapjack]

Flapjack looks around for a moment to see Ryon walking onto the bridge.

"Good, you're hired, now take the helm, this auto-pilot is nagging me about some subspace distortion."

[mrmao]

Mrmao walked through the engine room door with his rifle shouldered. As he came through the door he fired one pulse into the chest of the chief enginer. A assistant tried to come at mrmoa from behind, but almost as soon as he lunged he found a plasma rifle being swung at his face. There was a loud crunch and the assitant colpased to the floor. Within a few seconds the rest of the engine room's crew was nuetralized. Not much after that a charge was sett and in 30 seconds a charge would destroy the capacitor for the engine core. With out the engine would go critical and destroy the ship.

Mrmao was back in his pod and was well on his way home when the charge went of and destroyed the enemy ship. Then the program stoped and mrmao was sitting in the holo deck.
"Well that wasn't much fun"mrmao said as he slung the rifle over his shoulder and hiked back to the bar.

[AcidK]

*AcidK looked at his computer terminal and sighed.*

Very hard to get proper tactical data when the ship is going FTL, as soon as it has gathered data, we have already passed it or already at it. Guess there is nothing much for me to do until we reach Romulus I... This may be the time to ask if you can make a travel to Gank, sir, within the Shraan Empire Remnant Spacelines.

*AcidK looks up from his station to FJ with a smile on his face, the clone not having the gaunlet on one arm and, concequently, simply had the rotting skin underneath that looked like it had been burned, slashed, ripped apart and then finally dunked in viniger. At this point it was fumbling with co-ordinate data on the tactical computer.*

I understand fully that this would be a very dangerous thing to do, what with all the conflicts going on there, but I need to pick up a few.... suplies. Since it is an anti-psychic zone, ie they have anti-psychic barriers around the entire planet, trying to blink there or near there would be impossible. Ever tried to use psychics to breath all your after-life and then hit a psy-barrier in space?

[mrmao]

mrmao wlaks in to the bar but sees only acidk .
"well that's no, were could everyone else be?"
Mrmao turns around and starts to walk in the oposite direction from which he'd come.

[flapjack]

"Ofcourse we can head out there, but not untill they install the new plasma torpedo launchers at Romulus, which they will do when we get there. I just hope they dealt with the damned rebels by now."

[Ryon Jkar]

Takes the helm and looks around confused...

"Guess no one missed me..." (ooc: bastards)

Ryon J'kar's eyes took on the blueish color around him... somewhat like a chameleon... and he laughed...

"Computer set coarse for a crash landing on the nearest planet. Slow from FTL engines to crusing speed."

[mrmao]

As mrmao was walking down the random corridor of his choice hae ran it (literally) a sign that said brige that way. The sign pointed up a staricase , a very tall looking staircase.
'OW' mrmao hollered,' who puts a sign 5ft by 5ft in the middle of a corridor. hmm what we got here brige,maybe i can find something to do up there."
With that mrmao skipped his way up the stairs and into the brige.

[flapjack]

<computer> "Negative, dropping from FTL speed is currently impossible, our target has been locked on Romulus 1 and a level 5 clearance is required to change this."

Flapjack in the meanwhile had made his way down to engineering to do some maintenance work

[Runo]

Runo, finished with his drink, wanders round the ship. The entire ship rumbles, red ligths flashes on and off... but nothing matters, for he is in love.

[Ryon Jkar]

"Damn"

*AcidK smiled as he looked up from his computer desk to the helm.*

Pity, it seems, as most travel co-ordinates are made by myself or the captain. Loading co-ordinates for the Shraan Remnant Space now ready for the next jump. By the way, it would be advisable to train the gunmen crew and the pilots as much as possible before we attempt entering Shraan Space, it would be a shame to suddenly be knocked out of a slipstream in front of a C'raaskian (extremely dangerous parasite race) or a Pandaski (Shraan-born rebellian army after Shraan was destroyed, they blame the Shraanian Fleet itself for Shraan's destruction) fleet with raised weapon and fully armed, waiting for us. Even FTL is dangerous in the sector. This might be, Ryon, your time for an attempt suicide of the vessel as you may have the oppertunity to dive directly into their largest concordats and battlestars.

[flapjack]

Flapjack, who was listening to the proceedings on the bridge continued working on the impulse drives, so that they would be finished upon arrival at Romulus, which was now only minutes away.

"Ah, but it's not the C'raaskians that worry me, this ship could run over a concordat with little damage, simply because of its size. I should remind you this ship over 100 kilometers in length and 10 kilometers in width and height."

[mrmao]

Mrmao who is now standing on the brige, after acidk's speech a giganitc grin sperads across his face.

[flapjack]

Flapjack in the meanwhile connected the final power units to eachother as the ETA dropped below 1 minute.

"Okay bridge, start up those impulse drives and run the test program."

[AcidK]

May I remind you that the C'raask can take out a system with a single frigate-sized vessel? The last thing you ever want to do it ram a C'raask vessel, half the crew will be infected with their parasites. Thankfully C'raask numbers have dropped dramatically in the past few years, what with the invasion of over half the C'raask homeworlds and Hive Mothers. At any rate, it would be a damned good advise to train our staff just in case we bumb into them, heavens knows what lurks in the Black Nebula... which is, of course, in between our destination system and the Shraan Remnant Spacelines. Going around it at any speed could take weeks.

*AcidK bagan to calculate a few things.*

Calcualtaing FTL droppout speed and slowdown rate, running caculations now...

*AcidK looked from panel to panel quickly.*

Droppout speed will be double Impulse drive speed, sir, even if we started slowing down ten minutes ago. Impulse Drives can do a warm-up from ten seconds after we exit FTL space and we will not loose a second of full speed until we need to. It could be the edge we need if any rebellion forces or pirates decide to bombard us. this ship is big enough to ram them, and at those speeds it could certainly do less damage on us.

*AcidK looked up and smiled.*

[flapjack]

"Hmm, half the crew. I think I can handle 2 people easily. Anyways, how are they to infect something through the hull? They're going to need a lot more then a simply little concordat to breach this ship's hull. Also, if a single frigate can destroy a system, then how come we can't blow the damned galaxy to pieces?"

Flapjack quickly went through the start-up procedures for the impulse drives, while doing so he continued to talk.

"We want to hit the brakes within 15 seconds after arriving, if we don't want to overshoot Romulus and have to turn around, so get those drives warmed up Ryon."

[Ryon Jkar]

Listens to the speeches about acidk's and flapjack's encounters.

"They should try to confront an Arch Legionaire..."

*grumbles as he activates the drive warm up consol*

Kylithium powered explosives. One hit on a star and say goodbye to the system and everything within a lightyear from the outer edges of that system. They stole a load of Kylithium from the rubble and derelicts around Shraan after it was destroyed and use highly advanced teleportation facilities to teleport what we call pods onto large starships, such as this one. Pods themselves carry a hell of a lot of parasties that can take over technology or crew, depending on what type of C'raask parasite pod actually makes it into the ship.

*AcidK looks around his console again and sighes.*

And they bypass sheilds as if they were just nebuli and in the way... No-one I know as of yet has been able to manipulate C'raask technology, as they prefer to destroy everything when they know there is no other way out. Strong sheilds, high-powered weaponry, teleportation devices used to bypass virtually any sheilding system... And them now using anti-psychic barriers to stop psychic troops teleporting onto their ships and sending a multiple-explosive shockwave through them.

*AcidK pulls something out of a small printer-like machine to his side and read the language imprinted carefully. Each character looked like they were a mix between japanese, russian and islamic all placed into one. Shraanian language was common speech, the english everyone these days used around the universe, but the letters they use are something very different.*

And by the looks of things there is a small fleet on the outskirts of Shraan Remnant Space, C'raask by their guess... Thankfully the Demai have already sent a few carriers to deal with them.
