How green a driver are you?
http://observer.guardian.co.uk/quiz/...763981,00.html
I got 6 out of 8; not bad for someone who does n`t even own a car.

You scored 7 out of a possible 8
not bad, although I'd expect to get around that as I've been reading that kind of stuff for 2 months for work.

Oh dear, oh dear it's not looking good for your green credentials and at this rate you'll embarrass yourself in the new driving test when it comes in. You definitely need to read up on eco-driving - try tips from Juliette Jowit, our Transport Editor.

5 out of 8, but a fair bit of it was logical guesswork.

Get you, eco-driver. In fact, we'd be surprised if you own a car at all, no doubt you've already traded it in for a bicycle and given the profits to a tree-planting outfit. Still, it wouldn't hurt to read tips from Juliette Jowit, our Transport Editor - there might be something even you don't know.

Re: How green a driver are you?
That site is bullshit and doesnt take into account automatics. plus the reducing speed on a motorway question is entirely pointless as surely it depends on the size of engine in the car?
In my old 1.0 polo i could double my fuel economy if i slowed down from 85/90 to 70 odd.
In the 2.5 litre i have now it makes fk all difference.

Re: How green a driver are you?
They need some better questions. I am sure GD could help them design a more interesting test.
Question: You are motoring down a carriage way at 55 mph when your girl friend decides to give you a bj as you travel. How does this effect the overall consumption of gasoline?
a. Who gives a shit?
b. Savings rise to 100% after you smash into a roadside tree due to
distraction.
c. Overall fuel savings rise as trucks slow down to watch the show.

Hmm not bad, like our Opposition Leader, you can talk the talk, but how much of it is just to impress? You definitely could do better - read tips from Juliette Jowit, our Transport Editor.
And trust JJ to come out fighting on a car thread.

Re: How green a driver are you?
6/8.
I ignore most of them, especially when to change gear.
A1 with car loaded, change gear ~ 4k revs at all those ****ing roundabouts to get back up to cruising speed. It's great, I'm fully laden and overtake Jags.
Some GD questions:
How much fuel do you waste emergency breaking for speed cameras?
a) I never go above the limit. I laugh at people who's break lights light up when they get near one
b) I take my foot off the accelerator and let friction slow me down to the correct speed by the time I reach it
c) my speed halves over the length of the white lines they use to check speed. clouds of smoke from my break pads obscure fellow road users.
d) I ignore them / drive so fast that they can't see me.
How much does the loss in aerodynamics caused by roadkill on the front of the car lose you in fuel
a) 0% - I love all god's creatures great and small
b) 0% - nothing sticks to the front of my teflon grill
c) 50% - I have a concertinaed safari on the front of my car
d) 70% - roadkill has stuck to my tires, my car judders every time the wheels go around.
