On the subject of Kiefer Sutherland...
...while he's good (VERY good) at what he does, has anyone ever seen him in a different type of role?
The only ones I've ever seen him in are:

Jack Bauer (harsh talking, compulsive, decisive, actiony hero type guy)
Sniper in Phone Booth (harsh talking, compulsive, phschopathicy type guy)
Jack Somethingorother in some crappy 80's movie called Ground Control which is about ATC (harsh talking, compulsive, slightly unhinged ex-military action hero type guy)

What I'm sort of seeing here is a man restricted in the roles he plays...
