Possible suggestion to increase number of players?
Jolt, the all singing and dancing game company have (I imagine) quite a large community who play a myriad of other games.
Perhaps as a promotional idea, they could "Give away" a Planetarion account with every other game signed up and paid for. (Just for R9)
This would have a two fold effect.
One: It would promote the game.
Two: It would bring new blood into the game.
A reverse stratedgy could be applied to encourage the Planetarion player base, to get involved in "Other" games within the Jolt community.

Nice idea. I would imagine they would already have this as an option and are deciding if they will implement it or not.

I've always had a pathetic dream that one day the dedicated memberbase we have remaining will work extra/extra/extra hard to bring others to this game. I can go to any of the Top 20 http://www.mpogd.com games(I know other sites too that list hundreds of games), start an account for a free game, find my way to the 1337 players within 3 days maximum, ask them if they've ever played PA(the answer is always "What's that game like?", bring them here.
Once yah get 'em here, yah never have to go back and play any of those crappy little 'other' games again heh. Plus you get the joy of training a bunch of newbies who will more than likely commit themselves to you and/or your alliance for 1 or 2 rounds minimum!
I know many people don't have the desire, but it really is as easy this to bring new players to PA. I've brought many people over from other games to play PA and I am working on 3 or 4 new people for the new round.
If the remaining 3k dedicated PA players each brought 2 new players to the table, your talking about 9k bloody players.
Like I said very unrealistic, but a boy can dream can't he?
Nice idea though Judge.

I too have introduced quite a few players to the game, sometimes people I know, and occasionally Gamers from elsewhere.
Yes you can dream (no harm in that)
And thx for the compliment.

Its been pointed out several times in other (older) threads.
They arent interested in bringing in new players for R9
R9 is to entertain the current player base, get maybe a few people more, but no advertisement, normal P2P and no new features.
You can suggest what you want, but its not gonna happen.
Everything is focussed for the new and spectacular R10.
Trying to bring in lots of 'fresh blood' in a round thats R9 is gonna be is in their mind a bad move, they want the new ones for R10.
Also i recall them saying R10 will not be free, but there might be some sort of discount for the price of a planet for the people who played R9.

Yes I KNOW that they are NOT interested in bringing new players in for round 9, however if they (Jolt) made this sort of offer, it would encourage more people to play Planetarion, and hopefully SOME of them will stick around for round 10.

I was wondering that myself?
I know that they lease/rent out their servers to various communities.

Apparently they aren't worried about that. They want to present their 'new and improved' game, and don't want people to try it R9, so they can stay away R10, cause R9 was so crap for new players.
Don't you get it?

Jolt run servers for games (Mostly FPS) which you'd buy in the shops, their public servers are net facing and free for anyone to use. However, they make the majority of their money from renting clans games servers, they also operate a 0845 gaming dial up.
Which makes this whole idea rather pointless.

They didnt finish last round, they are late starting this round so what do you tell ppl who are currentlt enjoyng a free game.
"look there is this game that costs you money but they have no f##king idea when it starts, they didnt finish last round and there is nothing new in this game that last round didnt have and people said last round was about as cra#py as it can get"
Sure.. that will get lots of ppl to leave free games and play PA.
They have shown their incompetence in not getting the round started so far and yet we are supposed to believe rnd10 is going to be so spectacular its worth the wait...... can I sell those who believe this a slightly used car driven only by an old lady on weekends.....

i got to say that this private galaxy thing has certainly put me off! i makes people who want to sign up and play worried that they will end up in a crap gal with inactives or multi's and will get trashed by priv gals. Private galaxies are just unfair on new players. Means a lot of running around looking for a priv gal or an alliance to join when all they want to do is sign up and play.

I said it was sounded far fetched, but kidnapping them from their current game really is as easy as I said it is!
Fred's statement rawked, so sad but true. Yah don't tell 'em about any of that, dummy. lol.
Yes, your tricking them. Yes, your pulling them into a new addiction they *may* or may not have the strength to get bored of and walk away from.
I said to bring in about 3 players a person. It's not difficult to kidnap 3 friends in these other free games since most of them are rediculously below PA's actual 'quality' in terms of Game Design and hosting.
But your all right in what you say, don't get me wrong. And although my head is in the clouds on this issue, I have 3 confirmed newbies joining R9. I stole them from 'Circle of Darkness' and 'FateLords'
