Diffrent types of planets
Let players choose what type of planet they have. Selected right before planet creation, they would have a variety of minor benefits. Adds something extra strategy wise, realistic in terms of coding and is just
Some suggestions:

Metallic World (diffrent ones for crystal and eon i suppose)
+1% metal per tick
+ 1000 metal per tick

Storm World
Counts as 4 distorters

Mountain World
up to 10% of your structures can be destroyed per tick instead of 20%

Jungle Planet
+ 3% research

should also consider the possiblity of having diffrent effects on each world according to what race you have selected.

Races already balance this kinda things...
Maybe some scanners feel like using a special planet..


I dont really see the point of it....
except that u are able to actually chose the obvious picks then..
like Terrans go to the +metal planet by default

Actually, I quite like this idea, if only as a novelty.

It helps to give each player some form of individuality but I fear its implementation would lead to some pretty basic or obvious choices. eg terrans all choosing metallic...

Well, you could combine the novelty with affecting certain areas of the game that will have a more limited impact on the game. Areas such as production times, cost of Structures (ie, a planet that is as flat as a board reduces the cost of building a structure - plus think of the novelty of having a Flat Planet ), etc. Typically, i dont think that a planet should give you more resources as (like Gate said) that would prolly be the most obvious option to take, as resources is life!

sounds like a nice idea even tho it has to be worked out more imo... every planet should have advantage and disadvantage tho imo
