in case anyone missed horn...
After realising that no-one had seen horn for more than 10 days, and lots of IRC speculation, yahwe phoned him to find out what was up.
The short version of the story is that he's in hospital after breaking the bones in his hand while punching a guy who was hassling one of his female friends. The long version of the story will have to wait until he returns, as we don't have any more details.
But please use this thread to say how proud you are of him and how much you love him so he can have something to smile about on his return.

Re: in case anyone missed horn...
I think the phrase "yahwe phoned him" should be replaced with the words "yahwe was made to phone him by vampy/jer and #forums"

How can he be in hospital for 10 days for breaking a few bones in his hand?
That's longer than I was in hospital!
Also which hospital?

Tomkat is like "attention, attention, attention" and horn is all like *doing cool things* and vampy is all like *worried* and yahwe's all like pretending not to care and it's an exciting day on the internet today.

Re: in case anyone missed horn...
'Horn hasn't been seen for around 10 days' doesn't necessarily mean that he has been in hospital since the very moment he last left IRC...

As mature as having a "my reason for being in hospital is better than your reason for being in hospital" argument is. Aren't you being a bit egocentric?
To be fair to Horn. He's in hospital because he broke bones protecting a girl. I spoke to him and being me I was much more concerned about the legality. The police have said that they will not even bother pressing charges: so he was in the right.
I don't think we need a competition about who's disease is worse. Horn will probably heal fine.
I expect those bones are fragile and a bit difficult. I've never broken them so i don't know.

Re: in case anyone missed horn...
The sad thing about breaking bones in the hand is that it aces during the coldest of winter. I know beacause I've broken my right hand twice
However, it's great for sympathy. Have some dear Horn <3

Oh pipe down.
My "how has he been in hospital longer than me" question was more "it must be serious if he's in that long so shouldn't we be a bit worried".

if you are worried then say that you are worried.
I was worried that the police would press charges. My worry was lifted when I was told that they wouldn't.
but if you are worried for god's sake ask don't use ****ing sarcasm!

To be absolutely fair to TC, we don't know that he didn't throw himself in the path of carcinogens in order to deflect them from harming some girl.
"For Tomcat so loved the women that he gave his only begotten lymph nodes that random girls might live."
It's in the bible for god's sake.
Look it up.
Having said all of that, I really would like to say that I am proud to know (even if only on the internet) a man of Horn's chivalrous character. Loll about as long as you like. You earned it.

You guys are a bunch of violent freaks. And also, can't these women defend their own honor? What's the point of resorting to fighting when words are flung at you? If you've got no better words to fling back, then maybe you should just stay at home and cry about how bitter and cruel the world is.

The Marines are a largely independent branch of the Navy and serve as troops on board ships or with naval support. They're different.

Vampy said horn's friend was being "hassled". This could mean a variety of things, and doesn't just imply there were words involved. It could be that they were being threatened, or touched inappropriately. Given that horn is not the most angry of individuals, I'd tend to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Yeah, you heard that someone called a girl a slut and you go round and beat them up then you're probably over-reacting. But I'm not sure anyone is suggesting that is what happened here.

I wish him a speedy recovery, and a stronger bonestructure.
I also wonder if the guy hassling his female friend got away unharmed. Does anyone know?
We could do a GD tracking and dump him in the Thames for breaking Horns bones!

Re: in case anyone missed horn...
I'm sure that if there were a way of sorting the situation without punching the guy, he'd have gone for it. If the police say they aren't pressing charges, I would assume they decided he acted in a reasonable manner. It's perfectly possible that intervening non-violently would have resulting in them having a full-blown fight with more serious damage to both parties. We don't know, cos we weren't there.
Of course, if I had been there, I would have rendered him unconscious with a jitsu nerve-pinch and we wouldn't be having this conversation.
Get well soon, Mr. horn, but do go and learn how to punch properly, because your distressed-damsel-saving abilities will be severely impaired if you have to spend a week in hospital after every rescue...

Surprised no one's considered the possibility that horn's lying to save face, and he's really in hospital because a sk8er boi beat him up or something. From my brief encounters with him that'd be the much more likely option.

Violence is just a tool, it's neither good nor bad. It can be used for the wrong reasons (like the war in Iraq, or happyslapping) or for the right reasons (beating up a fascist rally, defending somebody who cant defend themselfsl)
