THeres about 10 of us who play team poker on pokerroom. You play vs other teams and split the pot, quite fun sng's vs other teams basically. iish was part of it but he was just to slow to do anything

Re: Poker
i dont play online, but me and my friends have a weekly poker night where we play 2 or 3 games with a £2.50 entry. not enough to break the bank, but enough winnings to make it worthwhile. and a fun night.
poker is great!

Of course. I don't get much of a chance to play big tourneys anymore but I placed 9th in a 3 dollar rebuys on stars for just shy of 450! I miss going into the casinos

I play play money SnGs on Party for fun. I'm not putting any real money in though. At the moment I ace the SnGs, need to play some multi-tables when I get back to uni.

Re: Poker
I occasionally dip my hat into the ring, I have played in professional poker tournaments in the UK and in Canada. Best showing was top 15 at the Oxford IV tournament, part of the European Poker Tour, out of 270 people.
I dont play much, I never play online, but so far in my limited poker career I have won a fair amount more than I have lost... I was down on the French Riviera last week, and visited Monaco, but sadly in order to play heads up (ie non-automated) poker, such as Hold'em in THAT place, you need to put down a frightful starting stake.
I was not feeling quite that rich, so went for a walk around the Palace peninsula instead...

Re: Poker
I don't have the attention span for multi-table tournaments but I ocassionally still play "Sit & Go" tournaments or cash poker from time to time. I generally do OK, although I find it pretty boring compared to something like Black Jack or Roulette.

Apparently there's a some kind of "poker spy" software that can be used in online poker rooms, having it allows you the better down cards and lets you know if you're winning against everyone else.
I believe i've seen such software in action - The kind of cards this fella was getting hand after hand was just stupid... but who knows, maybe luck was on his side.
I play online poker for 'fun money' alot and a few friends of mine have a poker ring where we put the real money in.

I sincerely doubt this.
Obviously there are utilities you can use to analyse hands and give you updated odds on how you're doing, but that's simply doing stuff (quicker) that you could do in your head if you were that way inclined.

Re: Poker
Come on, EVERYONE knows that the weaker hands do better on these internet sites because it keeps the crap players playing. Just look how often Aces get cracked by 7-2 or some other shit hand.

Re: Poker
I would imagine it is just there are so many shit players who will bet with 72os that eventually they are going to win. I've seen occasions when they would have won plenty of times in real life, jsut no one is ever willing to take the risk.

Re: Poker
72o when one-on-one hand isn't that bad; can't be arsed checking the odds, but I image you win something like 30% against higher un-paired stuff, and next to nothing against higher pocket-pairs.
Higher pairs will always dominate though, chances are you'd be dominated with with higher cards too (AK is worse than 72o against AA fx). With 72o you don't stand any chance of being dominated by sharing a card with worse kicker either (AK vs AQ).
It's all a question of how many people are in the game .. short-hand when pairs usually win the cards are alot more equal than in normal games.

Yeah but I think his point is that it depends on the game style in play. I don't think it makes sense to say you'd definitely never play x or y cards because, especially in cash poker, it can be worth paying in order to see the flop depending on how loose, etc people are playing.

It's one of the worst, but I'd rather have 72o in 1-on-1 than (eg) 52s.

Re: Poker
Havent played since xmas, when i won about £300 in a couple of weeks. After that I pissed all my money up the wall and carried on shagging anything with a pulse. However in about two weks I shall be revising so it shall be a fitting time to play again.
Offline I played last week and won £50 with a few mates (merely £10 buyin, 5 of us winner takes all)

Not one on one which is what nodrog said. It's the worst at either a seven or eight handed table and above.

Not heads up. I think the betterness that a pair of 7s enjoys over a pair of 5s balances out losing the remote chance of hitting a straight.

Re: Poker
My computer is still ****ed so i've not played in 6 months i am however looking forward to getting back into it.
I was back at my parent's house for mother's day and i installed ladbrokes poker client there and i played some 5 seat sit and go's (ended up about $2 down) then i played a $20 turbo game 220 or so people top 20 get paid and i finished 29th :(
Still i thought that was OK being as rusty as i am.

I shall be taking it's advice for a laugh the next time I'm playing in real life, mainly just to **** with the heads of the "serious" players (i.e. Ones who think they are awesome, but are infact idiots who've read too many poker books).
Nothing quite like mind screwing someone who deserves it :P
